anybody know why the some of the early 500's have a hole just above the three speed wiper motor and what it might be for?
No one has been able to figure this out. It wasn't just on Charger 500s, it was across all B-Bodies in all plants. I used to have a 1969 Coronet 500 convertible that had it, build date was 830. Current theory is it was for an option that was to be offered but ended up not happening. The hole is the same size as a Vacuum hose hole on a Charger, the same grommet fits.
thank you for the reply. do you know if it was just on the early cars or was there a vin criteria involved, basically when did it start and when did it stop , just curious?
Only on August built cars that I have seen.
Welcome to the site. Do you have an early 500?
My friends 69 coronet RT has the odd firewall hole and plastic black plug

Notice that your car has the holes in the upper grille support panel for the 69 hood latch.
