Title: 8 3/4 Thrust Block
Post by: darbgnik on July 14, 2017, 11:59:39 AM
Hopefully this is a simple question for someone.

I have a new to me 3.55 cone type sure grip center section. Car has a as of yet unknown type of 4.10 sure grip in it. The new to me 3.55 didn't come with a thrust block in it. If I pull the 4.10 center section out, and it is the clutch type, will the thrust block from it fit in the cone type differential?

I'd rather know beforehand, as I'd like to do the job once, rather than put it all back together while waiting for parts. I already have to order a new u-joint for the rear, as the yoke that's on it now is a 2 1/8" 7260 and the new to me yoke is 2 5/8" 7290. So the u-joint in there now is a combo 347, and I will need a 316.

Thanks in advance.

The clutch-type SG uses a two-piece thrust block connected by a pin, the cone type is one piece. They won't interchange.

Is the cone-type factory or aftermarket such as Auburn Gear?

Thanks guys, I think the cone is factory.

Any idea where I can get my hands on one if I end up needing it? Usual parts lookups leave me coming up empty. And actually left me not even knowing if they're different.....

Never mind about the source for the thrust block. Got that figured out!

Thanks again guys.
