Title: 4 speed not rotating
Post by: Bens340 on November 19, 2022, 09:03:21 AM
hey all. so i bought a 4 speed thats been refurbished. all new seals and bearings. teeth on all the gears and syncros look great. problem is itll rotate about a 1/4 turn. i pulled it apart to investigate and the only thing i found was if i loosen the front bearing cover bolts, i can rotate everything freely, but snug the bolts back up and it either wont spin or itll only spin 1/4 turn again. first time tearing into one of these but im just not seeing anything obvious. any ideas? thanks.

I just finished one that seemed to be stuck in 4th when in neutral. Turns out the new 4th gear and syncro were in love, more lube and it worked fine. Wondering is you have a couple gears doing that locking it up. Turn it that 1/4 turn back and forth and see if the synchros are tight with a gear easy to look for.

i did find two stuck syncro's, i peobably should have cought that, thank you. i did however manage to break one of the 3 tabs in the 3rd and 4th clutch sleeve. i didnt see any on brewers, anyone know where i might find some without having to buy the whole sleeve?
