I kept mine for period correctness, But I prefer to listen to the engine. ;)
Yes I do and I listen to it often. I have a factory 8 track in my Charger my Mustang and in our GTO. I was one when stereo equipment got small and obsolete I never got rid of any of mine. I still have a huge stereo in the house with 200 watt head unit turn table , 8 track , reel to reel , and over 400 8 track tapes :yesnod: I have all of my LP's from back in the 60's. We have a 1963 Seeburg juke box in our game room and over 250 vintage 45's. But yes I think hearing that 8 track when cruising just adds the whole vibe of the old ride.
Still have mine too. It's not working at the moment but I don't think it needs much, probably a belt and a cleaning.

Here you can have cleaning with new belt or just buy the belt. I have used these people with great results. 70.00 for cleaning adjustment and new belt.

Years ago when everyone was getting rid of 8 tracks and LP's I used to go to garage sales and buy whole boxes of them for 50 cents to a dollar. I still have boxes I have never looked at. At one time I had around 600 tapes. I traded , sold and gave them to friends that still had the players in their cars. I think I have around 400 now. I have 18 original Beatles tapes people are always trying to talk me out of. I also have one tape from Chrysler that would have came in the car in the 70's. There not as easy to find these days.
Mines disconnected. I have a thumpin aftermarket set up.
But it has a Bob Dylan in it, lol.
I have one too. I also have hundreds of tapes. I think I have 3 or 4 copies of Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell. Lots of "Trucking" themed tapes. Molly Hatchet, Nazareth, Ted Nugent. Classics!!!!
My Batt out of Hell is about shot lol. My wife plays it a lot.

Had mine cleaned up and modified by Barry's 8 track about 10 years ago. He added inputs for an amp as well as a 3.5mil headphone jack so I can plug in my phone or ipod. He also changed the belt and cleaned up the mechanicals inside. My only complaint was that it stunk like smoke when I got it back but that faded quickly.
I have several tapes, some play better than others depending on the condition but with the amp and upgraded speakers it sounds pretty good for what it is.

VH on the dash Zeppelin in the deck
Currently have Ozzy Diary of a Madman in the deck and about 25 others on the garage shelf including Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Van Halen 1984 (very hard to find in good condition) for example. :yesnod:
I noticed my 8-track player was playing two songs at the same time. I did some research and found there is an adjusting screw accessible from the bottom of the deck. No need to remove the player, just take out the ashtray assembly, pop in a tape and adjust until only one song is playing! 5 minute job. WINGNUT
