Heres the film footage..

Definitely a '69
LIMEY ;)
Damn it..I was going to watch it because I thought a 68 got destroyed but since it was a 69..I dont really think I want to watch it :-\
you forgot to add that there is also a 68 charger in christine, although it doesn't get too much camera time
later
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry
i voted for DIRTY MARY CRAZY LARRY .but then second choice would be BULLET, followed buy the original VANISHING POINT .
you forgot EDTV
Oh well I like that movie basically for Elizabeth Hurley :D
and there are some movies more with Chargers on it ( but not as principal )... The Mexican, 60 Seconds...
Oh there is another movie with a Charger... Man On fire.
I saw yesterday the MIII trailer... It looks to have a white 2006 "Coronet" when there is an explosion and Tom Cruise is pushed against it, on a bridge I think... I think I saw the tail end.
The pic below should let you know where my vote went...... :icon_smile_approve:
My favorite is "Hot Rod", 65 Coronet rolls in the first 5 minutes, Hemi from Coronet goes into primed Willys Coupe...
Big Fish (First Gen Charger)
:)
I voted christine.... I like a bunch of those movies, but if you took the mopars out of all of them, Christine would still be my favorite.
Jason
The original cannonball,with david carradine,had a 68 charger r/t in it.They destroy that one too,it just does'nt stop!!!!!
dirty mary...lot of high speed

I was thinking of this movie as well. Saw it late once & was hooked in the first few minutes. It seemed to me that it was more of a car type story than the average movie. Not academy award winning, but how many people can relate to screwing up your car, yanking the motor to use in another car? :D

Big Fish (First Gen Charger)
:)
Great movie, seen it several times on HBO so far.
Let's not forget Phantasm.
I'll take Highwaymen. I love seeing that Barracuda getting thrased around although the motor was pretty tired. And let's not forget the movie Finish Line with a Superbird and other Mopars in it.
http://www.highwaymenmovie.com/trailer/qt_high.html
http://www.finishlinemovie.com/movie/final%20video.wmv
Highway Men looks AWESOME! I think I'll go rent it tomorrow..plus the Cuda gets destroyed but I dont really do the older Cudas, I like the 70s and 71s
And in Finish Line I saw a Superbird, a 68 Charger, a 70 Challenger RT Convertable, 69 Charger, 68 Coronet, 71 or 72 Charger and a 70 Superbee :drool5:
I'd have to say VP, for being the greatest car chase movie I've ever seen. Although, I haven't seen The Highwayman yet, and I DO have a bias for the 2nd gen Barracudas.... ;D
Well Highwaymen is an alright movie. Don't expect anything great but, seeing that Barracuda thrashed around is a site along with the 72 Caddy Eldorado. Rhona Mitra is hot and nice to look at in the movie. Yeah that's about it at this point. Didn't want to get your hopes up. Have a good one.
Payback
truuuee... I was forgot that one... Payback with a triple black 73SE at the end.
My favorite MOVIE that features a Mopar is Bullitt (acting, plot etc.) but my favorite movie that has a Mopar in it is Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry. I always liked Peter Fonda & Adam Rourke, but Susan George drove me up the wall! I can see how Fonda wanted to ditch her at the supermarket. DMCL was a movie about cars, Bullitt was a movie about crime that had cars in one scene. The new DOH flick just sucked, :puke: :puke: :puke: even despite having a Mopar....

I have not seen that one.. I'll have to look for it as the 65' Coronet is my favorite Mopar........
Another Favorite for me is ( Heart Like A Wheel ).
Hey, you forgot "Big Fish" with the 66 Charger! Come on man, why you dissing the first gen crowd? :flame:
Well, I would vote for the Dukes, but the movie sucked, so I went with Dirty mary, Crazy Larry. Hmmmmm.......Yellow Charger? :yesnod:
there is another movie where did appear a Charger...
Herbie. a 70 Nascar painted on the junkyard
I'm just reminding where I have seen Mopars, specially Chargers, but I don't have a favourite.
Ya Dirty Mary or Dingleberry
tomcats (71 barracuda)
gone in 60 seconds (remake) (hemi cuda, superbird)
gone in 60 seconds (orrigional) (3rd gen charger gets crushed by dump truck :'( )
outcold (73 charger se)
cannon ball run 2 (70 charger)
I voted two lain black top. one of those movies that is a classic but people overlook it because of the 70's style of flim making.

also a 71 on streets when Eleonor chase starts from parking.
DOH TV show was awesome but the big-screen movie was mediocre.
I voted for "Vanishing Point."
I just thought of another movie with Denzel Washington, called "Man On Fire" which was actually a very good flick. In the last 20 minutes or so, there is a few scenes with what I beilieve is a '71 Charger (Because of the side marker lights) They don't wreck the car, so that's a plus. :2thumbs:
Good action movie with suspense.
there is also a film called (the forsaken) i think , vampire type film , with a beaten up nasty looking 69 charger in it .see it quite a lot in the film .
Are we specifically voting on just the portion(s) of the movies that involve mopar footage or the movie as a whole? I think the car chase from Bullitt is some of the best footage ever shot but I can't watch the whole movie all the way through.
Agreed, cuz if it's just the Mopar, I'm another Big Fish voter.

In the movie "Hot Rod" the car was a 65 sport satelitte "not a 65 coronet", in Dazed and confused it was a 73 duster "not a 71" you guys forgot Phantasim (the 71 Cuda) well at least the 1st one, also Corky with a 67/68 barracuda and daytona footage, and there is a plenty more :yesnod:

From that rather incomplete list I'd go with Tommy Boy. Only B movies? What about some good films that also had Mopars like "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner", "High Crimes", and "Vertigo?"
If we're going by sheer entertainment value of the movie, Tommy Boy. If we're going be sheer greatness of the car, Dukes of Hazzard. General Lee was the best actor in the movie, and had the best role, that of the one and only character that wasn't almost a complete opposite from the original.

I could be wrong on the year charger or the movie but I know there was a 2ed gen in a movie along the lines of cannonball.
It was a black one. There was a plotline to it, like some one was doing a radio brodcast from it during the race. He ended up driving it off of an unfinished overpass.
man, why cant I remember for sure what it was from....
It is the ORIGINAL Cannonball movie ! with a 70T/A and a 68 Charger , then the 69 mustang later in the movie.
There is a movie called Blue Velvet, that Dennis Hopper plays a psyco killer, and drives a 68 Charger!

I read this whole thread and this movie was never mentioned.
Martin Lawrence in Blue Streak. In the very first seen of the movie they use a get away car dirven by none other than Dave Chappelle. 1969 Dodge Charger. :METAL: :METAL: :METAL:
I voted for Christine because it picks up on the concept of a man's love for cars and runs clear off the field with it. It's also got a nice '68 Charger in it. :yesnod:
I liked "Big Fish" a lot too, and they actually uttered the word "Charger" in refernece to the main character's car.
Tommy Boy was excellent too and I still need to see Joe Dirt.
i like the charger in bullit but dirty mary crazy larry is a better flick

Nu-ff said there, that's my vote!
There is no cooler movie with the best year and color for a Charger Period!
Yes I am bias. :D
VP, Joe Dirt and Blade. tough choices. :)
There are some other movies as well:
Cheech and Chong: Up in smoke (several 3rd gen chargers)
Vampire in Brooklyn (71 charger RT)
Bad Boys 2 (Coronet super bee)
oh, and Fast Lane was a HORRIBLE movie. I could not even sit through it for the cars!
What, No Gone in 60 Seconds Movie as a Option????????????? Survey must be deemed null & void, Incomplete & inaccurate without this option in my opinion. LEON.
The best movie was Christine. But the best scene with a Charger in it was by far and away the chase scene in Bullitt.
The Forsaken with the vampires drivin around in this sinister lookin 69 :yesnod:
Your right Matt, my car does sorta look like that one. And holy crap, Im surprised this thread is still going. I made it back the old days with my old account moparsinbarns.
nobody's mentioned "fast and the furious" i wonder why... possibly the stupiest thing was that wheelie AND smoking the tires at the same time...can you say lame?
I remember going to the drive in back in the '70's driving my '69 Charger RT to see Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry. For many years I tried to find that movie to show my boys. Now for pure humor I enjoy Joe Dirt!
this one gets my vote ;D

Its a toss up... Christine, Tommy Boy, Dirty Marry, or Bullitt... but I will have to go with Christine! ;D
you forgot cars, the best animated film ever, a great story, and a lot of known cars,
and a mopar, the king's superbird :yesnod:

favorite Movie WITH a Mopar. EASY the original Vanishing Point!
Favorite Movie Mopar- that BAD Citron Yella Charger in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. COOLEST Movie car of ALL TIME!
Gotta go Dukes....The Charger gets the most camera time.
The Original GONE IN 60 SECONDS from 1974 is the all time #1 Mopar Movie ever. I seen it at Drive in in 1974, Seen Vanishing Point & Crazy Mary Dirty Larry at Drive in in 1970s also. All 3 great movies. LEON.
I remember a movie back from around 1988 that I used to love...it was called "The Gladiator". A really cheesy plot, but there were tons of scenes with a cool 68 or 69 Charger - can't remember - black with black tinted windows. A really good movie for Charger footage.
That was a made for TV movie in 1986. Here's some interesting trivia on the chargers used
The five 1969 Dodge Chargers used in this film were actual "General Lee"s from "The Dukes of Hazzard" (1979), sold by Warner Bros to this production. Out the five, two survived in the hands of stunt driver George E. Sack jr. They are now being restored for Dukes Stunt Coordinator Gary Baxley by Smith Bros. Restorations.
During the restoration, 'John Schneider' donated the engine from his General Lee. It was the last General made for the Dukes of Hazzard reunion movie.

Wow! Thats really interesting! Yeah, that is the one I'm talking about, the made for T.V. flick. I actually found a DVD copy on Amazon for $4.00 so I picked up a copy:

Oh yeah, one more movie with a Charger in it and one of my favorite Adam Sandler movies of all time.. The Wedding Singer. A 1970 Charger in one scene for all of 2 seconds right after his wedding ends in disaster and Glen comes with the Las Vegas tickets to set the date for Julia Gulia to marry him. (about 1/3 in the movie) :yesnod:
Holy crap, I cant believe this thread is still going! I started this thread back on my old moparsinbarns account.
Ok, they are very cool!!! i have seen them all. i just didn't know the name of the "Forsaken' movie. I have seen it a few times, just never from the begining. you guys forgot one though........... ;D
:o
I liked the Wraith with the Dodge Turbo Intercepter Concept Car. It also has a 64 or 65 ? Barracuda in it. And in Hollywood Knights there is a Hemi Motor on a motor stand quote" the engine of the future"
Christine.
Awesome mopar movie.
Loved it when it first came out and I love it today just as well as the day I first saw it.
My favorites are
Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (this movie got me into Mopars)
Bullit ( I love that black Charger and the car chase)
Phantasm ( i always liked 71 Cuda,s)
There was a Chrysler Valiant Charger in Mad Max 2 (aka The Road Warrior) :icon_smile_big:

Highwaymen (watched it last night) and The Foresaken aren't there either.
What about "Brewster mcCloud" ! This movie is always overlooked when talking about Mopars in movies, 70 vit. C HEMI roadrunner with pistol grip and an air grabber.when Shelly Duvall does a burnout you can see the Dana 60!
Kind of off topic a little bit. Has anyone seen the cuda on the lift behind the kid in the Honda Accord commercial? He's fast talking the girl and you can catch a glimpse at the very end of the clip as she leaves the gas station.
The Honda ad was posted on dc.com, today I actually saw the movie Corky with Robert Blake he has a barracuda with a Superbird inspired wing, he tears this thing all to hell in the movie . DMCL is my favorite.
highwaymen aint bad with a 67 cuda I believe superstocker hemi 426/4 speed they even talk about the fender tag (door tag) how only 60 were produced and whoever has one is one serious MOFO.

As much as I love the Charger in DMCL, the real star for me is the '72 Polaras...particularly the one with no lights that the redneck cop chases them with. I have it on DVD but have never noticed a Daytona in it. I am wondering whether I have some cut down version where the scene has been removed.
I am presuming it is gold or light bronze with a black wing, because I have a 1:18 diecast of it with TLB graphics on the box.
Cheers,
TPR
Tried to find some pics of it, this is the only one I could find.

Don't believe I've heard of that one.
2008 movie made for TV. It's available on dvd. Not the best movie but I've seen worse and the charger is in it from beginning to end........
I'd never heard of it either. Just did a search on YouTube to try and find a bit of the movie and instead found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diMF4fKypek
Is he claiming that this is the actual Charger from the movie, now in Australia???

News to me. :shruggy:

Thanks Fred, I'll have to hire it along with 'Drive Angry' as I'm yet to see that too.

Do you know, I've watched that movie a hundred times and I can't recall. Might be time to pull it out again over the weekend.

"Drive Angry" is definitely worth a watch. Good movie. :2thumbs:
TPR, the very very begining Big Willies Daytona lines up with a red AAR Cuda on the sreet at night to race. Then later on James Taylor says "that Cuda had a hemi with a torqueflight" how stupid, it was a AAR Cuda.. :shruggy:

Ah, that explains it. The version I have on my PVR has the first few minutes missing. Checked my DVD copy, (which I hadn't opened yet) and there it is. That Big Willie Red Daytona is difficult to miss.
All this time I was looking for this Gold/Black Daytona. Can't explain why ERTL produced it with the TLB graphics.
:scratchchin:
Thanks GOTWING

Maybe it was a different Cuda? I remember the Daytona racing the AAR but I can't remember if the 55 Chevy was lined up against the AAR or not. Now I have an excuse to watch it again. :D
Watched it last night and the Daytona is right at the beginning (very first race) so if you haven't settled in, you'd miss it. The Chevy's up next facing off with the Cuda.

It rarely gets a mention. Not sure whether that's due to the fact that not many people know about it or they know about it but feel it's not worth a mention. :icon_smile_big:
It's not a bad movie they copied fast and furious and gone in 60 sec and mashed it together. The thing to me was the charger was not significant that placed no emphases on it unlike fans the charger meant a lot to Dom and talked about it in very deeply.
To me the scene in the garage was significant and very believable and how he overcame his fear at the end made the movie.

New movie called "Nobody" with Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) features an old white Challenger reminiscent of the one in Vanishing Point. Saw preview the other day. Looks like a decent action movie.
Hi Folks, 15 May 2022
Thought we'd chime in with our favorite: Bullit. Dodge Charger and Steve McQueen.

It was a fun movie but like all the others, they either had idiots for technical advisors or they had qualified ones that were ignored.
One phrase in the movie was something to the effect of....."Its a 4.9 liter V8".
Not even close. No classic Mopar used metric sizes to describe their engines and even then, none were a 4.9 liter size.
I never remember that Charger in Spy Hard!
Hi Folks, 16 May 2022
We remember one episode of the Dukes that used a Charger 500. It was the only time we saw a "General Lee Fastback." Do not remember the episode or the year. The only 2 memorable things from that episode are the Charger 500 and Daisy Duke.

I don't recall ANY Charger 500 in any episode.
I'd really be interested in knowing where you saw that.

Hi Kern, 17 May 2022
The best we can remember the Charger 500 was used in a jump scene. It was quick and most folks wouldn't have noticed it. Since we had the Hemi Daytona at the time, the Fastback Charger was obvious to us.
We were surprised to see it used as it was common knowledge they were destroying Chargers at a fast clip and Charger 500's were valuable.
Rarely watched it but my dad liked it so if I came in when it was on I'd see it.
We're sure most folks familiar with the 500's would notice it immediately.
Take Care

Hi ODZKing, 18 May 2022
Guess we'll have to buy the series and watch every show until we find the Charger 500 episode. Seems like a project. Let's see, we are booked up until the winter of 2024. Oh, we don't have winter here in Phoenix. Maybe after New Year 2025.
Any Volunteers out there? Bet there are a few members with that series on DVD or VHS (remember that stuff?).
