Title: Anyone want Superbird reference?
Post by: graybo on December 05, 2018, 10:14:04 PM
I am going to slowly start tearing down my Superbird.  If anyone wants pics or references of an original low mileage superbird... just send me your area of request and I'll send pics of that area.

I would love to start a resto feed....but I go in spurts and sometimes I go 100 miles per hour and then there might be a couple months with nothing.  Its all a money and ambition thing.

That's exactly what my wife said to me last night!!

Most restorations go that way graybo and those details you unearth will be valuable to others following along. At least that's why I think I'm doing my resto thread..  :scratchchin:

Another vote for a resto thread.  It benefits everyone, as well as entertains

I thought you were going to leave it as is and drive it as an original unrestored what changed your mind :2thumbs:

Graybo,
Yes! Please! I don't have a real one to look at and I'm trying to put one together. I need 27 8x10 color glossy pictures with circles and arrows... (sorry, Alice's Restaurant popped in my head) But I could use details of the nose assembly inside, outside, top, bottom any and every angle. I'm really intersted in how it goes together and what fasteners are used since they seem to be hard to find. But I'll be grateful for any photos.

 Have fun with your project!
  Chris

Don't sweat the time thing.  Some restoration threads have spanned several years.   :icon_smile_blackeye:

Do yourself a favor though, take twice as many pictures as you think you need -  both before, during and after the restoration.  Take a photo of just about everything, from different angles too.  With your car being in original condition, it's especially important to capture details before and during disassembly.  You'll be amazed at how often those details are helpful... either to your own restoration effort or answer someone else's question(s).  I don't think it's possible to take too many pictures.

Here are some items recently discussed here that I would like to see pictures of:
Valve cover oil fill cap
Valve cover oil breather to air cleaner hose clamps
Power steering cap
Power steering pump pulley
Master cylinder lid
Radiator cap
Bumper jack mast and hook showing colors, date code and part numbers
Scissors jack and position of mounting stud
Overspray on the bottom of the car
The color and material on the front fender bolts near the lip on the rear part of the wheel opening
How's that for a start?
MJ

Rob and Bill,  I started detailing my engine and just decided to go all the way...soo...the K frame engine, tranny, and all suspension have been removed.   I guess I just don't want to do it twice.   That being said, I change my mind like I change my undies(at least once a week) HA HA.

I will get some of those requested pics posted.

Wife's got me going out the door in 10 minutes... no issues if you don't want me to do the pictures, or if you do replace the AT with a @ and the DOT with a .   so it's .on.ca

Here are the original Superbird reference pictures I received from member graybo!
The first picture is of the radiator cap.
The second picture is of the power steering cap.
the third picture is of the power steering pump pulley.
The last picture is of the oil filler cap.
The only item that surprised me was the early style radiator cap!

More original Superbird reference pictures!
The first picture is of the oil breather to air cleaner hose with mold lines and the clamp.
The second picture is of the jack hook that has the part number 2931 103 and vendor number 10961 with the small font.
the third picture is of the jack base painted gray and has the "T" shape mast.
I would like to thank John for his pictures and have already sent a second list of items that I would like to see!

No problems, I'm downsizing enough pics each day as it is!!

I didn't think my email address was that complicated, it's all we could get for a business 20 years ago.     .on.ca   (.Ontario.Canada)   Fought them trying to get just .ca but they wouldn't give, unlike today where everyone has just that!
