Title: Engine start up question---dont worry, it has to do with the body of the car
Post by: 69bronzeT5 on October 30, 2007, 12:44:28 AM
Ok, so Im starting to figure out what I need to do to get my 383 running. I dont plan on driving it anywhere, I just want to get my engine started to see if it still runs since it hasnt run in about 7 years. Now, the torsion bar crossmember on my car is really rusty, Im afraid that if I start the engine and go to give it gas, the torque of the car will bend something because the torsion bar crossmember is like swiss cheese....very thin swiss cheese :icon_smile_big:. Am I just being paranoid?? Will it be fine?

Assuming your front mounts aren't broken, it shouldn't be an issue to start and rev it.

No, just the ends of the torsion bar crossmembers. It seemed fine when we started up the 318 but its gone and I have the 383 now.

If I remember correctly, my dad said the right one was broken....not sure if he fixed it or not
