Hello My name is Mehdi and i'm from Iran
this is my first post here and i want to give you some information about The only Dodge Daytona right now in Iran
almost two years ago i joined a group in facebook named Persian Classic Cars and shortly after searching in photos i found this
the oldest picture of 69 dodge daytona in iran (the one that is still in iran)
.
.
first i was surprised and then i searched more and after that i realized that there was 2 orange daytonas in iran
i heard second one was brought to iran in 1969 and after that in early 70s this car and a 69 mustang traveled to australia. the owner changed some of the car parts like rear fenders, spoiler color, changing steering wheel side from left to right and.... i think this daytona was known as aussie daytona in australia
here's a photo of it when it was in australia
.
.
i heard that in 2005 it was sold to a man in us. he changed the parts with original ones and changed the car color from orange with black stripe to dark blue with white stripe
right now it looks like this
.
.
now let's get back to the one in the first picture and talk about the one that is still in iran
this car was in a parking since iran's revolution for almost 30 years after that it was bought by a man named ramin salehkhoo (he owns the only Camaro Baldwin Motion Phase III in iran too) when he bought it the spoiler was missing and car was damaged. he bought it when it was like this
.
.
right now he is restoring it and he wants to make it look like the first day
it's takes a lot of time to restore the car because it's the only one here and it's hard to find parts for it so don't expect to see the result soon
the newest picture of the car is this
.
.
rear spoiler is still missing and i don't know if he found a new one for it or not. but the good thing is it's still in iran even without a spoiler
and if you want to know what that baldwin motion looks like here's a photo of it
.
.
if there's any picture that you have from this car or old pictures from aussie daytona please share it here
thanks for reading and sorry if i have some mistakes my english is not very good
Have you ever seen a 1970 Challenger over there? I have heard of one that was sent to Persia (Iran now) when new that had a 225 cid engine with a three speed manual transmission. It was cream in color with a black interior & vinyl top.
:2thumbs:
Wonder what the numbers are on the tags?
Welcome to the forum  Thanks for sharing :2thumbs:

Wow, that could be the car. If it is, I know who has some original dealership information for it. If you know the owner & can have him get a hold of me, my contact information is at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/contact.shtml
Excellent story and information, thank you and welcome to the forum
Welcome to the forum Mehdi-J! Thanks for sharing pictures and information with us.
Yes, welcome to the site.
hello & welcome   :2thumbs:
great info , welcome
 Welcome aboard!
There is a known Daytona in Saudi its Dave Fontenants
The photo in the garage with the blue hose on it, could that have been in a magazine? It looks familiar.
Thanks everyone
i was reading some posts about daytonas in iran here so i decided to clear things up and tell the real story about them
.
about the picture with the blue hose on it
i don't know if it was in a magazine or not but i think it's a picture that the owner (ramin salehkhoo) took when he was buying it and it's from his album. you know taking pictures from first moment to show the progress at the end
.

i don't know the owner and the information about the engine. i think it's sold to another person. i'm not sure about it but i will ask to know who is the owner right now
That would be great, thanks!
Its so cool to know that there are Daytonas in other parts of the world, even parts that aren't accessible by us. It also reminds me that while the leaders in certain countries may be our enemies many of the people in the same countries are much like us.

I suspect that that he was either stoned to death or thrown off a building for communicating with Americans. Poor Mehdi, may he rest in piece.
Who knows?...but he's not even logged on to the forum since December 2015...

Thanks Mehdi for responding-hope everything is ok for you. We would love to hear again about the car. For everyone else, here is his response to my PM
almost forgot about here. sadly no there's no new info and i havent met the owner since 2017. i think he just gave up on it. with the prices going up and new sanctions its not easy to get your hands on car parts in iran.
i think the car runs but i cant say for sure.
This is really cool for me. I guess when I hear about old cars I would never picture Iran.

Up until the Shah was overthrown in 1979, the US and Iran were pretty friendly. We sold them lots of weapons, so there were lots of American military advisors and oil-industry people posted there. Lots of opportunities for 1960's-70's American muscle cars to get imported, either officially or unofficially.
The 1970 Challenger I mentioned on the first page was ordered by a college student from Persia (now Iran) that was attending college here in the US.
US made cars traveled all over the world back then & they still do.
Stay safe over there Mehdi.

There were companies who imported cars since 1920 30s from all around the world to iran. Those cars are rare now but you could still find them. For some years after 1979 cadillac buick and chevrolet kept making cars here. Also somewhere around 1990 huge amount of 80s and 90s american/european/asian cars were imported to iran by various companies. But at the end they stopped importing american cars to iran since they costed a lot more and market was going towards smaller more economic cars.

Thats correct. Even now new american cars are being imported to iran by individuals but those cars can only be used for a limited time in free trade zones although some of them are lucky enough to get licensed and stay here permanently.
Thanks. Ill try my best.

Rebecca huh? I always just knew her as Dart Girl.
I knew Eve from a few Moparts gatherings and when hanging out/cruising with onebadsuperbad and the aussie daytona. She was a cool girl, too bad her health issues caught up with her. ☹
