Title: YearOne windshield gaskets
Post by: Charger4404spd on December 04, 2010, 09:32:07 PM
I replaced the OEM gasket with one from YearOne. I didnt notice until after it was in, but it is thicker than the original and I am unable to use the wipers due to interference with the thicker gasket.

Anyone else ran into this? Did YearOne have some that were not correct?

Part #WCRD715 for 68-70 b-body.

Yep, should be correct as W715 is the NAGS part number for the glass.

Charger4404spd can you elaborate more or show a pic of the rubber installed?
You haven't forgotten to lock it up have you?

It would have to be way too big to hit the wipers. Is it hitting the wiper arm or blades.

It is hitting the rubber blade, about 1/4". This YearOne gasket comes down the window more than the original. :icon_smile_angry:

Ok that's a bit clearer now.
Looks like you need to push that rubber further under the crome with your thumb.
I had the same issue with mine and it didn't come from Y1.
See how there's a small gap between the rubber lip and the molding?
I'll bet you can press that in a bit further like I did so it's more flush.
Not sure on these if the wipers are left and right either (I'll check today) unless someone else already knows.
A lot of vehicles' wipers are side specific and it may only be a couple of extra mm difference.

I see what you mean Doc.... it does look like it needs to tuck in under the trim some more. TanTop, I just measured mine and it is 20 3/8", so it does appear that I need to get that rubber pushed on up under the trim some more. I just tried pushing a section of it up in under the trim, but it doesnt seem to want to go. I will try again this week when I get time. If it will go on up under the trim though, I think that will solve the problem. Thanks guys! :2thumbs:
