had a flashback while reading another thread  about power windows stuff ,

wasn't someone  looking for a discription or & pictures of said grommet  a while ago ,

had these two pictures saved from Robs charger post  :coolgleamA:

That's pretty good!  I need to drill holes to add the power window wiring.  I need to remove the window regulators and I'm removing the vent window assemblies so I can install new vent window seals.  I'm hoping I can drill the holes without removing the doors but I doubt that's going to work.

The wiring loom I have is out of a c-body and it has two metal brackets, one on each side, that probably bolt inside the doors or something, anything like that in a Charger?

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Thanks tan top.  I'll get the wiring out tomorrow and take a few pics.  It looks to be the same except for the extra brackets I have.

Here's the wiring I have.  You can see the metal brackets on each front door portion of the wiring.  They are pretty nice guides but I don't know if this is a c-body thing only or not, if they fit anywhere on the frame or door of the charger then great.  The bad news here is that there's only one rubber grommet on each door end as well and there should be two.  One for the door and one for the a-pillar.  I don't have the ones for the pillars.  I'll try to find something that looks stock but I'll have to cut it to get it over the wiring.  Anyone know which glue to use to make it whole again?

The wires near the driver's side door portion seems to be the hookup into the existing system and I'm guessing it'll end up somewhere between kick panel and steering column.  Now, since my car is not an original power window car I don't have the breaker on the back of the cluster.  How do I solve that little problem?  I don't care about authenticity in this case so can I install a breaker just about anywhere?  What kind am I looking for and what wires does it go to?

see what you mean about them bracket type clips , that hold the harness ,  just guessing  may be they were screwed to the inside of the door  , to keep the harness away from stuff inside  glass going up & down etc , & something to do with a C-body your harness come from , never had vent window frames , i'm just guessing , had a quick look on the drycock Cbody site for any pictures  , but never found anything  :scratchchin:

think i would use a new aftermarket  universal type  power breaker  ,  yes not original but  why take a chance with 40 plus year old stuff  , even when new they wernt as good as today  electrical parts i dare say !
i never did find a complete wiring diagram for power windows ,
but posted in another thread what i had saved ,
 will look for it  :yesnod:

Tan top as always you hit it right out of the park!   :2thumbs:

I agree, new breaker will be a bit safer.  I see that I need circuit breaker and a relay as well, I take it the latter is to keep the current out of the switches when they are not in use?  What type of breaker and relay would be recommended?

don't know enough about electrical stuff &  chryslers reasoning behind putting a circut breaker ( if they do work like todays ones ) on the amp gauge for a power feed to power top & windows , apart from should a kid or  un knowledgeable person , keep their finger on the on button , when the side glass is fully up or down ,  another thing i can think of is should something stop the side glass going up  , ie a hand or head  , perhaps it trips out  like on some modern cars now , as a safety feature , or stop the motors drawing too many amps under given conditions  , same deal with a convertable top also , cant really say anything other than that ,  like i mentioned , not got power window so cant take it appart & look investigate,
to find a sutible replacement power breaker , think you need to find how many amps the  PW motor takes to go up & down  , then at the split second the glass reaches the lowest & highest point , & the motor is still running  , find out how many amps its drawing then  you want the breaker to trip at that amount of amps i would of thought , unless of course there are mini circut breakers in each switch , & the one on the back of the amp gauge is just another for extra margine of safty ,

,  i'm sure you could do the same with a maxi fuse , straight from the battery , or starter relay instead of tampering with an already weak design amp gauge  :Twocents:! , &  have switched power to windows  via a relay , simple switching type i would of thought like on the head light up grade for a second generation ,   & wire it up when ignition key is switched to accessory position ,

You make some valid points there my friend.  I wondered what would happen if you kept pressing the button after the window is all the way up or down.  I like the idea of relays to keep the power out of the switches.  Now I did buy modules for power windows that I will place between the switches and motors which turn the switches into modern one touch operation and give me the option to open all 4 windows with the key fob.  When I lock the car with the key fob all the windows close.  There may be a breaker built in to address the 'going too far issue' so I'll read the manual again.

By the time I'm done with all this I'm either going to be an electrical genius or I'll be applying more ointment to my burnt fingertips.

In any case, I'm going to document this whole process in case others want to go this route.

I just noticed that the grommets that go in door and pillar are going in the same direction.  On the door, the cone is inside so the only part of the grommet visible is the flat part but on the pillar it's reversed so the cone is what you see.  What the heck is up with that????

They look to be roughly the same size but can anyone confirm this?  I need to find two of those or at least a pair that's close enough in size and shape.

think the grommet cone end pointing out on the A post / pillar is to stop water collecting in the open hole end & maybe ending up inside the car ,  on the door the cone end in inside because if that pointing out every time the door is shut the harness would be bent close on 90 degrees maybe !!  then straighted again when opened ,  & if water collects & seeps through the grommet ,  no matter , water ends up inside the door when it rains or car being washed anyway ,

as for where to get grommets ,  never seen them for sale  , remember looking , when i mentioned it in HemiGenos thread ,
think best bet , find a junk/wrecking yard that has C bodies ,  even four doors prolly have the same  :scratchchin: :popcrn:

Can I clone you and keep a copy with me?      I didn't even think to visit a junk yard.  Heck I only know of one around me and I have no clue if they have old mopars but we'll soon find out!

If anyone reading this has two of those suckers please pm me.

amazon has some window motors if your interested

I have two of the Dorman motors I bought from Rockauto, but it seems my original motors will be up and running again shortly so I'm going to try and send them back.  If they don't take them, I'll have them for sale soon.
