Title: Which studs on the front? Changing out the RH threads...
Post by: Wakko on July 19, 2005, 02:09:19 AM
I posted this on the '70 site and got some good answers.  The front left hub was not converted to standard thread (but the rear was, go figure) and when I went to the auto store they had a bunch of different ones to choose from.   Almost all of them had to be ordered and I don't feel like leaving my car on jackstands at my buddy's house for a few days waiting for them to arrive (he's got the impact wrench).  Any way to know what's on there prior to pulling it apart?  I guess I could pull just one stud, but I'd really rather not.   Original big block car with manual brakes, 11" on the rear (unknown on the front).   ???

Most times,  front rotors come with the RH studs already installed.

Take that front drum crap and either toss it into a dumpster or sell it off on ebay to somebody building a trailer queen  :icon_smile_wink:

Disc conversion is the only way to go.

I don't have the money for that right now.  I still have a bad radiator, no gauges, no seatbelts, bad shifter and seats that are so low I feel like I'm Mexican.

They're half inch but I don't remember the thread pitch. I replaced the studs on the LR of my '68 not too long ago and I just went to the parts store and asked for studs to fit the RR.

Nothing wrong with being a Mexican Wakko. You just need to know how to do it right. ;D

On my 68 the fronts are both RH and the rear driver side is the only LH.

Radiator...$170   http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=radiators&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp&x=21&y=7

Guages... $5   try this trick from allpar http://www.allpar.com/history/mopar/electrical2.html    and more good reading  http://www.allpar.com/history/mopar/electrical.html

Seat belts and seats....$??  you can try a set of these  http://www.corvairkid.com/sebring.htm  they look out of place though.

Shifter.....  i'm still looking.....

lol...I know how much the stuff costs, and I don't have it.  :)    I bought a pair of Stewart Warner guages but my factory cluster is sitting on my floor waiting to be "restored" and seats are PRICEY.  Gonna definitely be waiting a while for that.  :(

Hey Wakko, sounds like it's time to shake down some drug dealers for some spending money.  :icon_smile_big:
