Does your original carpet have a grommet?
Thought I read somewhere the original carpet does not have a grommet...

Some say all no and others say a few had them. Mine never have but I did add it to the current one. I liked the way it looked when I put it in there but now I don't. Go figure huh?
don't think it was a OEM part , more of a aftermarket thing :yesnod: :shruggy: :popcrn:
None of my cars that still have their original carpet have them - never seen one on an original 69-71 car. Earlier than that I have heard of the odd one. Funny thing is - I found a grommet under some carpet once - never installed.
Neither of mine have the grommet. Both are 1969s. One has original carpet, for sure, the other, if not original, is a masterful copy.

I read that in one of the "Original Tech" articles by Frank Badalson in Mopar Collectors Guide. Perhaps that is where you saw it?

Same here. I have a 69 charger with 49k on the original carpet and it shows no sign of ever having one. Same as my 70 Cuda. I think the carpet guys just always throw one in.
