Title: 16" Arm Rests vs. 13" Arm Rests
Post by: Corellian Corvette on August 05, 2007, 01:56:23 AM
Sorry one more quick question!

I measured the arm rest pads and and arm rest bases off my 68 Charger, and the pads are ~ 13 in and the Base is ~ 16 in.

Most of the repro shops sell 16" and 13" bases. I assume I need the 16" base.

Now, when I go to purchase Arm Rest Pads, Year One lists 13" Pads and 16" pads.

So i'm confused. I assume I need to get 13" pads for the 16" bases. But what car used a 16" Arm Rest Pad?

Don't want to order the wrong thing!

I'm pretty sure the front pads were longer (16") and the rears shorter (13") in which case you would need two of each.

2nd gens are fronts = 13",   rear = 9" with ashtrays.

New plain black armrests and the chrome bases are available repro.   Apparently new dyeable armrests are available also but I haven't seen them in person.

I bought all new bases and fronts are Carlisle then found some decent ashtray rears on ebay to replacle my green dyed black stuff.

Is that 13" Bases or 13" pads? My bases are 16" but the pads are 13" I'm just wondering what base would be used with a 16" pad since YearOne claims to have those available.

The front bases would be longer since it incorporates the inside door handle.   The pad itself is 13".

So then would the front base be 16"? And then with the rear pad being 9" the rear base would be 13"?

Front base = 16".
Rear base = 9.sumthing".

13" bases are used for something other than a Charger that got 9" front pads.    Chargers were "premium" interior.

I bought my bases at Megaparts tent at Carlisle.

Here's a full set on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mopar-1966-70-Charger-GTX-Chrome-arm-rest-bases-4pcs_W0QQitemZ220123757569QQihZ012QQcategoryZ140732QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

the fronts are the long style that also came on the c-bodies,.. i'd suggest that the rebop pads are crappy though,.. i bought them from yr. one and they were gray and the stiching embossing was dull and flat not crisp as the originals also they were way harder then the originals which i ended up putting back on..
my advise is to find a nice pair from a junk yard c-body
