66 charger 383 . how many amps ? source guide says 37 seems low
Depends on a couple things Brad. With or without A/C or single or double pulley and size.
Basic according to parts book would be 35, yes.
There was also listed a 46 and 59. As long as you have a newer electronic VO, you could probably put on a 59 with no issues. PN 3000011. That crosses at NAPA to Part # :WIL 90032004. Pricey but available.
The 59 amp alternator is the high-output Leece-Neville which requires a special regulator.
The regulator regulates voltage not amperage, so the standard regulator will work with several different amp alternators.
I put the one off my other car for sunday night cruisewill have mine rebuilt .
All I know Brad is I put a 59 amp alt on my 67. Then fried 2 old-style VOs before I sprung for an original looking electronic one. Has been fine since.
