Title: 69 Charger fuel tank - painted?
Post by: El-Ling on January 31, 2023, 11:53:29 PM
On the 69 Chargers, was the fuel tank and tank straps bare metal, from factory, or where they finished in some manner (painted, coated, etc.)?

Thanks

Tank was galvanized. Straps were e-coated I think.

I just got a new tanks, inc efi tank for my 68.  it looks like it's silver painted with a med/high gloss clear over it.
My original tank from 68 which just came out of the car was undercoated on the bottom as my car is a factory undercoat car but the top was natrual and is perfect even though there are a couple of pinholes in my original trunk pan from a leaky trunk / rear window in the past.

With that said, I scuffed and used rustoleum spray on truck bed liner on the bottom and left the top as delivered.  I did more to match the rest of the car.

I got my Tanks inc last month and was pleasantly surprised how nice they are.
