Holy Balls that looks sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

QuoteCould you please tell me the size of tires and rims please?  thanks, Nate

when i get a chance, and it stops rainning i can tell you the size of the tires. i don't know the size of the rims, they where on the car when i bought it

Quote  In your backyard?   how did you do that.

i found a good spot between the house and the fence that has slats in it to block any wind. then i wet all of the ground to hold any dust down. it was a perfect day. no wind. i sprayed it rite there 2 stage black. i tack raged it after the first stage. and crossed my fingers that the weather held. it did. when i did the hood of my roadrunner it rained and messed it all up. i just sanded it down, tacked it and sprayed it again. it came out nice.  thanks for all the kind words guys it's been a long strange trip but we got r done. Too bad we don't live closer together. Would love to get the hemi challenger out and cruise around with that black charger. People around here don't like cruising around much, and we have such beautiful country to cruise around in.
The car looks great. What are you thinking about, wheel wise? I think Magnum 500's would look great. I love them on my 69 runner. You can buy the rims, caps, lugnuts and tires for around $1100 from Summit. My runner has 15x7's on the front with P235's and 15x8's on the rear with P255's.

Saweeet job Rene, backyard and all.  Lots of so called painters not doing that good in a booth.

What's wrong with the wheels.  Buff them out and they'll come to life.  I especially like the white letters NOT showing.  Next to my torq D's, those are my favorite aftermarket wheels.  If you go stock, Magnums would look beetchen with all that black, IMO.

Nice job man.

thanks for the kind words guys. it's been an act of love.

Quote  People around here don't like cruising around much

people here love to cruise but there so much traffic during the day that you have to do it at nite. did some nice burn outs with her today. started to smell alot of gas. i have to fix the hole in the grommet of the tank.

you hit it on the head Larry. some nice Magnum 500's with redline tires.the fender tag says it came with redlines.

found these on ebay ,not a bad price,

yea , i like these wheels alot but this is an all #'s matching car and i've been faithful to the history of the car. i think magnums would look great. i'll save this rims for a future project . more of a racing type mopar. Rene

If you get new rims, wonder how much it would cost to ship those rims you have now to seattle?       ::)    $  I need cool rims for mine.

Nice job Rene!  :o
i hope my black will come out that nice...

Lord Warlock

Very nice rene.  Its hard to believe how nice it came out being painted outside and all.  I do my paint work in my own garages, and even with washing down the walls and floor, as well as taking a leaf blower to the popcorn ceiling to blow off dust, and even shooting the base coat with the door closed (mistake if you ask me) I still had to deal with dust nibs that would settle on the surface.  I can't do it outside because of all the pollen that is always floating around.  I almost always have to go back and sand the final coat and later buff it out to make a nice smooth surface.

You said earlier it was a two stage paint, could you explain that a bit? like basecoat/clearcoat, or primer then colorcoat?  After painting my own stealth with house of kolor pearl basecoat/clearcoat, I love painting the basecoat but absolutely hate doing clearcoats as I was always fighting sags or runs (the stealth has alot of curves on almost every panel, and spots where the roof met the fender was a run haven) I'm kind of looking forward to working on the flat sides and top flat surface of the charger body.

What temp was it outside when you painted?  I seem to have the best results here when it is close to 70 degrees outside.

A question regarding your grill also, when i took my grill out, the eyebolts that go thru the front of the fender into the fenderwell snapped, does anyone sell these eyebolts or am i going to have to figure out how to make it work with aftermarket ones? I don't think the factory ones are long long enough now to hold in place properly.  Did you use all the original bolts when putting everything back together? or use new bolts/nuts?

BigBlockSam

hi
i just noticed your last post.

Quotebasecoat/clearcoat

thats what i used . diamont paint. thats what my painter likes to use. i reused all the bolts i could and bought  some new ones from ebay. here is the car today . still needs  a good polishing and cleaning. i just found the rear wheel mouldings , so i will be installing them next . i changed the wheels with the ones i had on the daytona. the car is very dirty in these pictures . i was storing her away in her car capsule for the winter.

Rene, I got to say your car looks awesome. :2thumbs: You've really done an amazing job on it.

However, your pic resizing program sucks it big time. Use this one, the pics will turn out great: http://www.photosize.com/ Scroll down about 3/4 of the way and you'll see a box titled "Width: Selectable - Enter a pixel number in the width field." 700 works good for this site. No more sawtooth edges on your car. :icon_smile_cool:

BTW, your car should have been the first one out the door of your friend's new body shop. Instead of keeping a friend and creating a good base of word-of-mouth advertising he probably lost a friend, a good reference and a lot of integrity by blowing you off. I bet you're much better off without him though.
