The October Talladega meet has been postponed. When I saw Tim Wellborn at the end of July, he looked great, but mentioned that he has some health concerns he's been dealing with. If you know Tim, it is not a big secret that he has some cardiac history in his family. Tim called this week, and after consulting with his doctors and Pam, he wants to hold off on the meet, at least for the fall of '14. He has an opportunity to have some treatment and wants to move forward on that.
Tim hates to do put off the meet, and I know he feels bad about it. He really wants to host it. But I don't see how there is any other choice to make.
At this point, you should cancel your room reservations.
There is a possibility of trying to reschedule for the Spring race of 2015.
Man, I hope he's going to be ok........ Thanks for letting us know Doug........ Bummer but that's the way it goes...........
Praying for Tim.......

He's doing fine. Part of it is keeping the stress level way down. As you might guess, there is a little bit of stress with having a couple hundred people in for the weekend.
While it's disappointing that the event is postponed, Tim's health is much more important.
Doug, thanks for letting us know -- and pass along our best wishes to Tim.
X2.
Hope he's feeling better...I can see how to many MoPar people in one place could stress out anyone :slap:
On the plus side, that gives me more time to put my clone back together.....(or more time to put it off... ::))

X3 regarding Tim! :yesnod:
Thanks for letting us know Doug.
Hope Tim gets to feeling better soon!
While the circumstances of this suck all around, it should be CRYSTAL CLEAR to people who are on the fence about going to a Talladega reunion that you are never assured another chance.
Best wishes to Tim as he relaxes and stays healthy.
Tim's health is #1 importance and everything else should follow that. I hope that he is able to get well. Thanks for letting bus know Doug. I'll spread the word around to the one's I have told about the event.

This is absolutely the case. It definitely applies to the thought process of, "I'm going to wait for the 50th".

Prayers that all goes well for Tim. His health is the most important thing
As Pettybird said you never know when it will be the last meet. There are no guarantees in life that there is always time to do something later.

Prayers for Tim's health which is vastly more important.
Glad he made the right decision and didn't cause further damage, I'm sure that was a tough call.
Looking forward to the reschedule !!!
Sorry to hear this. I was looking forward to this show for a long time now. On the bright side maybe I can take 2 kids to the next one. Because it was only going to be me and Dakota for this one.
Hope all is well with Tim.
I hope for the best for Tim. At least this will give me some extra time to get the Bird ready.

Everyone could meet at my place and go for a cruise............
I know it doesn't have any aero connection but what about some place like Kansas Speedway ? :popcrn:
Here's a small update on what's going on.

I planned on doing that for 2019 should it happen. Hell of an expense to drive two of them 750+mi each way, along with enough people to swap out drivers.
I'm totally bummed it's not happening now but I'm also relieved...the cars aren't 100% ready for that long of a drive and I would have had to push hard to get one down.
it won't be pretty, but perhaps by 2019 i'll have one at least driveable

my offer still stands that you buy a bunch of parts and I'll camp out for a weekend and help get it running...
I will swing up to new castle to help get it running as well
i've definitely not forgotten the offers, and hope to some day take you both up on it.
on a side note, congrats to danny and his family on their newest "acquisition". she is beyond precious.
I just wanted wanted to let everyone know I'm a bit down right now.
It's not as bad as when we found out the meet was cancelled.
We should be down there enjoying the AERO cars and each others company.
Seeing old friends and making new ones!
It's not all bad though as it's given us more time to finish our Superbird!
We will be going down to Troy Angelly's shop in early November to get it.
Then we have it entered in the Muscle Car And Corvette Nationals on
November 22nd and 23rd. We hope to meet up with Tim Welborn there and
see how he's doing.

Sounds good John. I will be there too. I was asked to help judge the Vintage Certification class for Mopars. Looking forward to meeting you and all from this site. :2thumbs:

I thought the same thing when I slowed down and went to sleep last night. It felt weird not to be there.
I thought that the same as all of you.
I even tortured myself by looking up the forecast for the weekend down there...it's gorgeous.
I sent Tim a Get Well card, because that is still more important.
Hoping it is rescheduled for some time other than the spring race - I can't make it then due to wife and son graduations...
<-- also upset about the meet...5 years of buildup...
I told my boss today I'm taking a couple days off to go to MCACN. We need to organize a club dinner or something.
Continued prayers for Tim... Hope he is doing better now
All day Wednesday thought about how we should have been on our drive down.
Miss seeing everyone.
Been on vacation all week has been so strange to have one without involving a car event

Did you guys see this? Tim is selling off half his collection....

I hope Tim is better!
Was flying over and driving from LA to Dega in a friends Bird.
Still can't believe it got cancelled, a real shame indeed.
Would have been the road-trip of my lifetime!
Maybe just maybe I will bring my 500 in 2019???
Get well Tim!!!

since this is still pinned, i thought i'd mention that another hemi '71 is headed to the museum. one owner car, looked beyond awesome
damned if i remember where i saved the photo to...
It was the late Jerry Narramore's car. As far as I know, Ann is keeping the 500. Both are great cars.
Latest word on Talladega is it will be on the October race weekend. It will not be in May. We should un pin this and start a new thread.
Ann says she will never sell the 500.
You mean this 9,000 mile 71 Hemi Charger 4-speed car?
... So.... Anybody has something new to add to this thread?
Ben

Dave, where? the same host hotel?
Troy,
Baymont Inn seems to be one of the most popular there.
