Title: Charger story on Netscape homepage
Post by: JimShine on July 26, 2005, 03:34:23 PM
It shows a pic of Sean William Scott in a General Lee and says "Dukes bring Charger rarin backr". So now we can blame the Dukes movie for the '06 fiasco! It links you to the story below.

QuoteWhen Dodge announced that it was bringing back the Charger name on a 2006 model-year four-door, there were enthusiasts out there who acted as if this were an unforgivable betrayal of the glorious Mopar heritage.

Hey, I think they saw the post on DC.com  ;D

No pix of the new DOH when I clicked the link.

I did find this quote to be rather telling:

""The assignment to Chrysler designers, he said, was not to revive the Charger per se but to create a four-door sedan version of the Chrysler 300 to replace the Intrepid and complement the menacing Magnum station wagon in Dodge showrooms.""

The car was never planned to be a stand alone performance car.

We already knew that it was not going to be a revival of any of the proud history of the classics, but it's just sad that all along they just wanted a "new" Intrepid, and called it a Charger as a way to boost sales.

Oh well, one more reason to just keep buying pre-"75 cars for me. ;D

"It may have four doors, but there's never been a Charger with more promise than this next one."
::) what ever....That guy is on drugs!

Unless by the term "promise" he mean that they have a lot of room for improvement. That I would agree with.
