53000 miles?.....they must have all been done on the beach or in a salt mine looking at the extent of the tin worm. :smilielol: The ebay "Item specifics" says 5,300,000 miles....seems more likely!!

There's a 68 in there as well. Wonder if it's a R/T as well

OK... I get that maybe it's a rare car, I just dunno if it's $35K rare in that condition ?

You are a talented guy cb no question about that, but I can't help thinking "restoration" is NOT the intent ? because even with your skillsets ...."upside-down" financially can happen very quickly moving forward from that condition and start point money-wise.

No, this one would never be another VIN swap fight because cbrestorations already posted on the other thread:

"Well I'm gonna have to disagree with you on swapping vins. That I feel is wrong claiming a certain car is a xs29 when it was really a xp29 318 car

Which I think anyways ?
would also mean swapping VIN's from one "XS" 3X Black Track Pack Car onto another "XS" Black/Auto Car ?

Now I'm confused as well as to "where" the "OK"..... and the NOT OK line is ?

It's your money, if you have ever seen the AMD ad where they lay out all the parts that they sell for a second generation Charger, then you know what you have to order to fix this car.

This one reminds me of this one. Only this is a 68 with non matching engine. Seller was stuck on 26k. Was on eBay twice as buyers backed off, then on hemming but now removed. It needed 3/4 of the AMD catalog. Refused multiple offers of 15 to 16k.

I'll be an outlier and say, I understand this.

Other than money there is the consideration of time.  You can pay up and get what you want now or wait 10 years and possibly not find another.

My buddy Tony has a better 3x black 69 charger up in discovery bay. Rolling body car without  motor and transmission for less than that turd. It's above my price range but its a solid body car in need of motor trans and interior with paint.

I'm sure it's a nice car...i didn't think someone willing to pay up for a car they've always wanted was a bad thing...if anything it raised the values of your cars as some of said. For me...fixing the metal wasn't a big deal. If I blew all customers off I could have all metal work done in 2 weeks with stripping, blasting, epoxy, metal work and back rolling again. I'll be sure and not post any restoration updates of this turd on this site. I see it's not worthy

Even for you there's more than two weeks work there. When you finish blasting that car,you will be surprised at how little Charger is left after the dust stops flying! That car is crispy on the inner structure too.

You could be right...but that's ok, when it's ripped down to the carcass not too much more trouble to replace whatever it may need. I won't get to this car for years anyway. Gonna be stored in the desert with some of the others. I like my ratty hot rod chargers to play and thrash around but I do have a few rare ones I wanna restore correct when I get the facility's to do so.

I think it is absolutely awesome if you can get your hands on your dream car!  At this point in time, the fact is these cars are crazy expensive in any condition, and one with a pedigree like that one even more so.  If anyone can bring that car back, it would be you and although 90% of the car might end up being from Taiwan, it will still be stunning and other cars don't have to be sacrificed (if useable original steel was available, which it isn't).  But didn't I see somewhere it didn't have a fender tag?  I pretend I'm not a 'numbers' guy, but no tag would take away a little for me.  At least, until that beauty was back on the road!  Good for you and although I'm sad there won't be a documented restoration for some time, it's in good hands.

Values or more specifically value to me, I get you perspective on the 35k number.  It is consistent with IMO colors and options to me could be easy 5 to 20k swing to other colors/options.  It is all about what you like.

It is interesting a bullet 68 RT to me is still not what 69s values seem to be.  I like that other 68 builder being discussed here.  Rusty, but looks like good start.

Not available?? Says who?? Plenty of southwest 1966-70 B Body 4 door cars to be had. Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Albuquerque and all in between.

However some people tend to say to me at the swap meets "I'm just going to go ahead and use new AMD metal".

Okay get back at me after you're having trouble fitting your new AMD frame rail when you could've bought my original, rust free, dry Arizona sheet metal.

If you find a 2nd Gen Charger with a solid useable quarter panel, or any panel, you'll need to fight the "save it at all costs" crowd.  Sure, you can find some clean frame parts from a four door, but not most exterior sheet metal, was what I meant.

Lmao talk about taking things personal. Lighten up Francis jeez.

If you have the time, money, and resources then by all means get the car and restore it to its former glory. Most of us don't have the time, money, resources, skills it takes to do bodywork like what the ebay car needs. And sure there are way worse cars out there then this one but for the money this car took in plus all the work to go into the car is beyond most people's reach

I can now call that black 4 speed car mine, I didn't really pay 35k for it, I traded a clean 68 383 2bbl roller and 14kcash for it. I was only in the 383 car 7k so I'm all reality I'm in the black car out of pocket 21k. I think I did pretty good on that.

I'm a little confused, aint you the guy that always preferred making clones & switching Vins & not a #'s guy or #'s matching guy. Why not buy a solid rustfree las vegas desert 69 318 white (or any other color) Charger minus motor for $15k. Saves a lot of time & money on Body work & just paint it black, throw in a 440 from a 73 station wagon or C body from Junk yard, switch it over to a 4 speed, slap on some R/T Emblems & you got the car you always wanted. Who cars if it aint #'s matching. Right. LEON.

Find where I said I prefer switching vins...I have said it's a common practice that is done regularly and at many body shops around the world. I remove Vin's and body numbers all the time...restoring dashes, replacing core supports and replacing rusty rear clips. Removing vins ain't a big deal. I think it's funny when members on here get their panties in a twist about vins or even getting a repop one because the original is missing. Many times fixing a car there was no rear clip or core support when the car went to blasting. I'm not a huge numbers guy, but the opportunity came up on this one to be in it good where why even make a clone when I could have the real deal. That's kind of a no brainer to me

Hey Chris, I want to apologize to you for my bad comments to you about VIN #'s & rebuilding these old cars, with your recent post I have a NEW understanding of the situation of saving these old cars & applaud you.

Yeah, My Mistake, I forgot these cars have doubled in price since I sold mine like 3 or 4 years ago. SO, I'll say you could buy a solid 318 roller for $30k & still saved money on bodywork. Yeah said you could do all the body work in 2 weeks. Been 2 weeks, is it done yet? LEON.

Is the car in my possession yet??? Let me check...nope don't see it outside yet. Oh wait and as I have mentioned this car will sit for a few years while my current projects are going. But if buying a 318 car and swapping vins is ur game...have at it. I'll just stick with fixing this body. But thanks for ur suggestion, those are always welcome Leon. Also when I do get to this car I'll video the metal work for you Leon to show with a few weeks you can save the real body instead of taking the lazy route.

I'm only Teasing you CB, Don't take me to serious, I've seen your work & from what little I seen you seem to do good work so I'm sure you can easily handle this car. LEON.

I deleted it...YouTube demonetized the video because of copyright on a song that was supposed to be copyright free but the. A 3rd party claimed it. I make maybe $250-500 a month on my videos but I spend thousands!!! Just to have that kind of content. It's nice to atleast get a small percentage of it back from the ads google pays. I'll repost it without the song in it. On the road right now with my new 426 Hemi from canada. Looooong trip
