Post by: 1charger69 on March 16, 2018, 11:06:20 PM
Any tips or tricks to get that last eighth inch downward on the left side lip so that it lines up with the end cap.....the right side is perfect ....69....

Open trunk lid
Put a 2X4 in the right side at the back
Shut the trunk lid till it touches 2X4
Push down on left side to twist lid a little
Take 2X4 out and check fit
Repeat if needed
:2thumbs:

Yup.  Sometimes you need to "tweak".

My brother had a 1973 340 4-speed Challenger.

At some point in its life, a new driver side quarter had been installed.

Whoever did it goofed.

The top part was off, it created a downward ramp to the deck lid at the rear, so the other side of the deck lid stayed up to far.

It bugged him bad, it looked awful.

He sold it to me & I took a bottle jack & two scraps of plywood, large one on the trunk floor to spread the load & a smaller one under the quarter gutter rail & jacked it up.

It looked near perfect in minutes.

After tweaking the deck lid just a wee bit (as mentioned above with a block of wood) it did look perfect.

My brother was shocked when he saw it.

I had always told him I could fix it, but you know how older brothers can be at times.......
