Title: How much vacuum for power brakes?
Post by: 440 on August 26, 2018, 02:18:03 AM
How much vacuum is required for power brakes? I found out yesterday my car has an electric vacuum pump hooked up to the brake booster but the headlights and heater box are all hooked up to manifold vacuum. I haven't pulled a manifold vacuum reading but if I can do away with the pump I will.

I've found that 11" was a safe minimum vacuum for the power brake booster on my cars.

Thanks for replying, I'll take a vacuum reading when I fire up the car again and see what it is.

It doesnt take much to run them, the trick is reserve. You will def need the resevoir to get more then 1 pedal pump.
