I got a call from a guy that has a rough 500 for sale. Sounds like the same shape I bought my car in. Needs a complete resto. It does have the fender tag. I had a heck of a time getting these couple photos sized to fit, if you are serious and want some more, send me a pm with your email. Last time I talked to him (about a month ago) he was asking $19K. No motor, needs interior redone, floors etc. I'm just trying to help the guy out. With all your guys knowledge and contacts, you may already know the car.
Tom
Has the vinyl top trim still in place! That looks like a project for sure!
paging mr. shelby67air to the courtesy phone.
this member was looking at a different project 500, just last week. perhaps this car might interest him.

No doubt. Too bad that thing was given a vinyl top.. :-\
Hopefully it'll get saved and see the open roads again. :)

Would he take a 70 R/T with the metal work all done and new legendary interior on trade lol.
A C500 project with a tag for under 20k.
Nice

I was thinking Troy trade :P
:smilielol:where's the car at? Auto or stick?
Tom, is that a red 500 with red interior? The rear seat "looks" like it is red. Looks like the package tray is missing, hence the red look there. But, it looks as if the back seat top cushion is red...
:scope:
No Apillar caps, those are pricey? Assume to be another red with black interior and kinda rusty. Interesting with Vinyl top trim for sure. :scratchchin:

Looks to have them.. I can see a slight shadow of the bottom lip...... At least, it looks like it to me..... :scope:
The glare makes it tough but it does look to me as well that they are there. The glare is kind of squared off looking to me at the top of the drivers side pillar.
Hard to see for my eyes, maybe I am wrong... it would be the first time today that I am aware of... :smilielol: :smilielol:
Looks not cut on, together and fairly complete. Seeing the rust at back plug area and the rust staining under the tail lights makes me think deck lid might be rotten at back lip.... but that would be profiling :nana:
Where is this car located? :2thumbs:
Anyone re popping the back plug for these cars in steel?

a couple more photos. I forgot location, but will find out again. I believe it's an automatic.
:drool5: :drool5: :drool5: monaco/ polara wheel covers , thats what i have for mine :drool5: :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:
wow thats a rusty one for sure
The rust monster got ahold of that 500 :eek2:
Dip it first then see what you have. The top of the rear window frame might be saveable
It's got all the 500-specific stuff (window trim, deflectors (looks to), complete grille)...... So, that much is good........ The corner pieces should be fine to get...

Didn't dayclona make them??
Still do, in steel, 18 gauge (.050) full window plugs or partial panel (lower section) prices range from $1200-$2200, ...Jack McGaughey offers a rear window plug in steel, 22 Gauge, (.030) $2400
...Has anyone heard from Jack McGaughey lately?...

I think it will take a lot of searching to find a buyer for that car at $19,000. :Twocents:

its rusty , but complete enough i dont see it hanging around too long
Without the fender tag i'd say it would be worth similar to what the Conneticuit 500 is worth (10-12k) BUT this one has the tag, so thats a big plus IMO for a limited build car like this which IMO puts the 19k price in range.
:coolgleamA:
wish i had the dough :'(
I Remember a similar coloured 500 from the Houston area about 15 years ago

Was that R6 car From Houston TX To Tomball TX.Randy Purifoy had owned it
Sorry, don't know where it came from but I do know it's in Indiana. Here's a few more pics.
Here's the tag info as it has been figured out the guy could. The guy even said he used a microscope to figure out what some of the codes were.
V8X ?26 END
C33 L3x M21 G31 N85 R11
A11 A32 B41 B51 C16 C55
R6 R6 C6X X9 929 923526
E86 D32 XX29 L9b 217195
the numbers in red are what he isn't really sure about, hope this helps.
V8X [blank space, no character]26 END

R6 R6 C6X X9 B29 925576

Added my thoughts in blue on that particular tag...
I'm not 100% sure, but the SPD/Build Date might be B30 rather than B29. Danny could give us a better look at that by comparing that VIN number to his other known cars. I'm also not sure about the VON - it could be 925578. Flipping the tag over on its back can often yield some good clues also.

Ah, forgot that. :brickwall:
With that being said, maybe the SPD on this one is B20 also :scratchchin: The last digit could be a "0" as much as it could be a "9".
Really the car is here in Indiana? R4 send me some contact info if you don't mind. Depending on where exaclty it is in the state I could possibly swing by and check it out this weekend.
Can't make out the SPD. At least not from that picture. Going by the cars around it I would say B20, but then again B28 is another build date I have too on some other tags that aren't too far off from this one. 929 is also a date I have plenty of tags from as well, but they are all well before this one.
It's in Peru Indiana. Not home now, but will get you some contact info.
Could not make it to there this weekend, but maybe the next weekend. Thats about 2 hours from the house and with kids football game on saturday at noon, pretty well shoots this weekend.

217195 would put it at 11/20/68 with all the VIN's I have near it :Twocents:

Did you make it? How does she look?
Not able to go this weekend too much going on but maybe next weekend.
Talked to the owner again and told me that if someone is interested he could deliver the car as long it was within approx. 500 miles of his house.
Just letting you know.
