Title: F8 500 in racing livery
Post by: mopar346 on August 07, 2022, 06:59:47 PM
My car is really close to paint and as much as I dislike it, it is going back F8. I'm trying to think of something that will make me like it more, so I was wondering about a race car theme but haven't seen any F8 race car pictures but I'm sure that more than 1 ran around the track with an F8 base coat. I'll build it back stock with exception of the dealer installed 6 pack (me being the dealer :icon_smile_big:) but I figured I could do some magnets or stickers to simulate the look. It's an auto but at least a console auto. I know the value lies in originality, so I want whatever I do to be removeable. I do like to enjoy my cars, so I have to do something. Any pictures of F8 500s in racing trim would be appreciated. NHRA super stocker would be awesome as well.

Thanks in advance, Kevin

A green race car was considered to be bad luck in those days.    There were not many.

Yes, YOU do but me, not so much. Maybe I'll go with spring green instead and then scuff and spray when it's time to change it back. Spring green will go with F8 interior right??

Just my thoughts here, but it's YOUR car.   Make it the way YOU want it.   Listening to opinions of others is helpful but at the end of the day, the decision is all yours.  The value is in originality, true but there's value in having a car exactly the way YOU want it.   Best of luck with your plans!!

I get the "it's your car" theory and even though I never see cars as investments, you have to be responsible to your money. The worst of it is the interior is F8 too and it was already done when I bought the car. The other option is to do a green and white interior with a green headliner so I could just swap it back to original in a weekend but then my cheapness sets in and a can't stomach spending a grand on interior I already have. The spring green comment was just poking at Barry, I think spring green with F* gut would be an even worse combo (no offence to anyone with that combo). Reality is I'll bite my lip and do it right and if I can't live with it, I might change the interior to white or just sale it. Sad thing is, I was busting a gut to buy the 70 V code RR on Facebook a few weeks ago in F8 with F8 gut, they just seem to find me! I figured some graphic might set it off, at least it has a white strip. AND I know F8 doesn't look terrible when fresh and blah, blah, blah but I just don't care for it. B7 with white gut or white with red gut would be awesome.

Mine is recently painted in F8 also, but I'm changing my interior over to white. Green interior was too much green for me. White tail stripe too.

Great threads, read every word. I'm digging the idea of a dab of pearl in the paint.

Enjoy the green interior!  Not many have it. :drool5:

Question, is this a restoration or a custom build?  :brickwall:

i read about & saw pictures once restored of a really low milage 69 Hemi C500 in F8 green  used as a drag car its whole life in california. then parked in a show room for decades  :shruggy:  not sure how if it was lettered up / paint scheme when it was a drag car , but might be worth  doing a search ,  just out of curiosity :yesnod:

Here is an example of fresh F8.. I think F8 is a beautiful color when new with it's metallic luster....... Not sure what stripe color your car came with, there are no documents that will tell you what color Creative put on it..  Add some bling with a white 500 stripe and maybe doggies with nice 15x8 steelies in F8 or nice thick magnum 500's like this one..

No doubt that car looks awesome. I've kinda been thinking cop wheels since I have a set of 15X10s and 15x8s, sorta a Nascar stance. I want to run magnums on the RT so gotta mix it up.

Hi Folks,                    11 August 2022

That is an impressive car, especially with the small door emblem. I don't know if it's just us or what, but when it has a Hemi in it, the car just looks better.

Who did the resto?

Best Always
