Title: LED dome light. Anybody done an aftermarket conversion?
Post by: oldcarnut on February 01, 2017, 10:08:43 PM
Thinking about just replacing the entire dome light with a modern LED version aftermarket or late model.  My plastic cover is brittle and thought a newer style would look and perform better.  Not interested in just changing the bulb.  Anybody done it and what did you use that fit good without too much mods to mounting?

Haven't done that but I got a new cover for my stock dome light because it was cheap, and the LED makes it really bright. Just so you know.   :yesnod:

I bought a couple of Uxcell dome lights off of Amazon. But, I probably won't use them. I can't figure out anyway to wire them the way I want them to work. They seem to have one power wire and two grounds. I might buy this one instead: https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/led-dome-light-fixtures-non-waterproof/5-34-rectangle-led-dome-light-fixture-w-10-high-flux-leds-w-chrome-housing/744/2018/

Here is very tipical to find this kind of dome light installed on every old car ( which I hate because is too "bulky" ), since they get the map light featuring

Since is a regular aftermarket replacement you can install any bulb on it, incandescent or led.
