Title: 1974 Fender tag questions
Post by: RiverRaider on October 26, 2017, 06:05:07 PM
I have questions about a fender tag on one of my Challengers.
It is a 1974 and two numbers I am not sure of.
344 last entry on the top row and 358 first on the bottom row.
The rest were easy, but these two I don't know.. maybe axle/engine/trans codes????
I have had this car for over 25 years and until this weekend I never really
thought much about those two numbers.  Of course now I want to know.
Thanks for looking, below is the fender tag
N85 R11 V7X 26 L2 344
M25 M26 N41 N42 N76
G65 G75 J25 J54 L31 M21
V1X U B41 C56 G11 G55
KG8 A6X9 000 417 116296
358 D21 JH23 L4B 39XXXX

I'm thinking it is E58, 360 4bbl HP

344 in top line - Hamtramck started using this extra 3 digit number series for the 1974 model year.

It seems to run from 001 to 999 but I have not seen an explanation for it yet.
