So 10-20K to restore or 100K? :-)

That would cost 100k to do a proper restoration on,but I think a freshly restored V code matching numbers 4 speed car would bring more than 170k in the current market.

It is a great color and option combo in my opinion, so I agree it can bring good money.  I guess it really matters how much of the original number and date code parts still on it.  And what paper work.  But I also think 100k is low unless someone doing all the work themselves.

Imaging it needs frame, pans, body metal, etc.. 100K in body/paint and another 60K in parts + labour to do mechanicals and interior.

Hagerty currently values a #1 6 pack bird at $290K + 10% for 4 speed. A #2 at $193K

I just had them insure mine for $175k Cdn (130US) and I'd put it at about a 2.5... and they told me I wasn't covering it for enough. Well maybe not for them, but I certainly won't cry...

One of the best color / interior / engine combos IMO .
On the east coast, betcha this one gets sold fairly quickly.

Should I win the Mega Millions lottery this week, I would buy it and send it to Mike Mancini at American Muscle Car Restoration in Rhode Island for a full restoration.  Call me when it's ready Mike!

Not sure I could say good or bad deal based on whats shown. FAR to much not shown. Especially around the rear window and plug . I can see just enough to question why that area isnt shown in the ad. And I dare say that car has been sitting for far longer than 10 years stated

BUT, based on whats shown and I would dare say back half sheetmetal ( quarters, trunk, decklid  etc etc ) I think I could do that car for under $100k. will I or do I want to ? NOPE.
I would send the bare empty shell to a buddy of mine in New York, Holgar at Supercar Restorations. and I would do everything else in house)

If it needs fenders , the bottom of the nose and / or a hood, add $10-25k

About 25-30 years ago, I caught wind of a B5 440-6 4-speed blue Superbird in Quincy MA. I knocked on the door one day, but no one was home. Makes me wonder if this is the same car?

Chances are it was the same car....

This bird has been around the block so to speak, last time I looked at it personally it was in Rhode Island many, many, many years ago, then it made it's way back into Massachusetts, and a few owners since the last 25+ years, with each one doing nothing to the car....this car has spent it's entire life sitting outside every time I've seen it... surprisingly it's fared rather well considering it's neglect

IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME HOW NEGLECTED THESE WONDERFUL CARS GET... :slap: :slap: :slap:

Dayclona or anyone: what is the earliest year you remember seeing the car?  I'm trying to get a timeline for possible match to another B5 car.  Thx.

The Rhode Island car is a different car. That car was sold about ten years ago. This car has been owned by the current owner since the late 70s. The guy that owned the Rhode Island car currently owns a white U code 440 4 speed Superbird.

The Rhode Island car was originally EV2 orange, but had an Earle Schrib blue paint job on it. This Mass car was always blue. I looked at the Rhode Island car about a year before he sold it,and itvwas worse than this B5 car. The rear window was broken on the RI car too.

chargervert: so your saying the B5 V code in Mass has been owned by same owner since late 1970's?  His ad in Craigslist says it's been sitting for 10-years, so I was thinking he had it only 10-years.  Otherwise maybe he lost his storage space or used the space to store something better 10-years ago!  Thx.

I stopped and looked at that car in or near Lakeville Ma back in 2000 or 2001. It was sitting in the same spot as the pictures. Dual quad set up on it, it was on a private road, very hard to find. I still have his phone number in my toolbox. Car was rough for sure but real. Had a late 70's Ma inspection sticker on it. He was adamant it was not for sale, had it in high school, same old story.

It's funny; a guy at a car show came up to me to talk about a 70 Super Bee I had at the time and mentioned the Superbird. Told me he was an oil truck delivery driver and that's how he found it on the private road. My buddy and I cruised Lakeville in that Bee until we found it, took several hours.

Bee: thanks for the year information and neat searching story.
I sent email to owner via Craigslist a few days ago but no reply.  I always need another challenge!
Wording in the add is not clear it is the original block: could mean "originally a 440-6...".

I don't recall if it had the original engine, but it was a V-Code car.

Great car, but a lot of rust! Pretty interesting it's still in the spot, sad really. It's sitting about 40 feet from a garage

I was just told by friends of mine that looked at the car last year, that they knew the guy who had the car back in the late seventies, and were told that the same guy still owns the car.
