i have a 68 rt charger the torsion bars r 778 n 779 r they for my car what r the other ways if no fender tag or build sheet how many leafs should it have thanks
Those are the bar #'s that came out of my #'s matching 383 x 4 speed Superbee.
I'm sure someone with more expertise than I will chime in soon....
but for what it's worth in the meanwhile,
On my Broadcast Sheet, it indicates my '69 Charger R/T W/440 Engine came with 781(left) and 780(right) Torsion Bars, and 790(left) and 789(right) Rear Leaf springs.
I am not sure if the '68 R/T's were the same or Not ?
780/781 were the "Hemi" bars with brown stripe. 69-70 R/T's would have them regardless if it was a 440 or Hemi. Not sure on '68's....never had one but I am fairly sure they should have the 780/781. I don't have my reference info with me.....maybe someone with a 68 can chime in.
Have you thrown a wrench on them to see what size they are? The 440/Hemi cars came with bigger bars, 15/16 I think.

That is correct. And I recall correctly, the # of leaf springs should be 6 on the left & 7 on the right.
The ends of the torsion bars are all the same size but the center of the bars are different thicknesses.
Well......this is what the end of my T-bars say.
'68 R/t with what I think are the original bars. :scratchchin: :shruggy:

Neat. That would make sense....my car was built first week of Feb '68.
(OP...sorry for dragging this a little off topic. :icon_smile_big: )
Can't look at mine.. they're at the resto shop for blast, prime and dip.
The ones that came out of my 68 r/t are 780 and 781
