There is a '68 Charger for sale on Craigslist, way over in Rhode Island, that seems like a great deal. I just received a response from the seller confirming the car is still available and has a clear title. I've decided it's just too far away for me, but maybe someone on here is closer and could score it. The way he worded his response sent up a red flag, but if it was local to me, I'd follow through to see if it's legit. If this thing is real, and you are paying a finder's fee, donate it to a food bank. On the other hand, if this is a scam and some African prince steals your money - that's on you!

it does sound a bit iffy the way its worded , & pictures are next to use less imo :scratchchin: in the days of digital cameras there is no excuse to post pictures like this to sell a car

It's been listed for a month (updated nine days ago) in the 'antiques' section, which might have helped keep it under the radar, but I can't believe it hasn't been picked up locally - especially if it was getting worked on at a shop. :shruggy:

It's a scam. It is used on Craigslist often in different parts of the country. The real listing was from Ebay In September 2019 and it was in Ohio. Here is a link to when it was featured on Barnfinds.com

Interesting they didn't use the passenger side picture showing the damage. The price would seem more realistic (still low, in this market, even for a 318 car). What's the endgame with the scam? Lead someone on with conversation about the car because they are lonely or try to get the person to wire a 'deposit'? How do these usually play out?
Scam for sure. Sold on ebay for 14-15k I think?
If you're ever curious if an add is fake, call or email the seller, they will 99% of the time tell you to email another person or they put an email address in the add.
I wish the government would hike the penalties for criminals that do things like that, the scams are everywhere, I've seen about 50 in the last two weeks looking for an atv and tractor.
The adventure continues: in response to my request a couple days ago for the VIN and a picture of the option tag, I received this helpful response which had the same pictures as the eBay listing (still minus the damaged passenger side) and an offer to ship it for free! I think I'll string this along a little more and ask for the name of the auto broker (there are a few in the town he mentions) so I can set up an inspection of the vehicle and see what he says to that. I assume the scam comes when he asks me to wire his 'broker' the money. I want to ask him if anyone actually falls for this. Anyone recognize the VIN?
