I know that most of you "hot rodders" probably wouldn't have it but does anyone have a good suggestion on where to get a new A/C condenser coil for my 1970 Plymouth Satellite/Superbird clone?
I found one at Year One for $190.00.

These guys have "perfect fit" systems. They have designed an a/c condensor with larger tubes that works better with R134A and is specifically made to fit like an original core.
Their a/c systems use a seperate heater core and a/c evaporator rather than an assembly like the other guys so that the heater core won't freeze up. Their a/c housing is servicable and uses stainless components. Best of all...they fit.

You might need to install a 3 core aluminum race style raditator and coolers for the engine and tranny to keep that car running cool with that a/c. Even then you may need to turn it completely off in heavy traffic.

If I'm not mistaken, this company used to be called DCE Auto Air, (or similar name) & I bought a condensor many years ago from them for my Scamp & it was fine. It was over $125 about 15 years ago, so I'd bet it won't be cheap now. I'd buy from them again without a problem, & you can ask them if they are the same company if you do call them.

I've been told that there is no way to make a good ac work in a Daytona/Superbird without making the car run too hot. They did everything they could to get as much air possible directed through the radiator. There were dealer bulletins back in the day saying to not dealer install ac under any condition in a Nosed car.

Do you suppose it would still be a problem with auxiallary fans pushing more air to the condenser & radiator coils?
I don't know -- that's pretty hot air you're moving around since there isn't a lot of cool air making its way in there.

You're gonna need to improve the amount of air flowing in through the nose somehow. It might be worthwile to mount an engine oil cooler and transmission oil cooler somewhere in the front of the fender to reduce the heat load on the radiator. You could cut a hole in the valance to let fresh air in that wouldn't be too noticeable.
