Sorry, that wasn't directed at your post - if I didn't quote anyone then I was referring to the original post. ;)
Reading (er, trying to read) that ad makes my brain hurt.

I just wanna thank Matt for posting this. I typed in "Dodge Daytona" on eBay and this car came up, but no pic. Without his guidance and direction, I may have never clicked on it. Kudos Matt!
BTW, the guy wants 75K for the car. :o

i have garage envy
Another vote for the garage!
Nice, Burnt. :smilielol:
It's a fairly decent clone. I emailed him and asked if he would sell it without the engine, as I am looking for a driver clone, and the Hemi just won't cut it. He said $60K w/o Hemi. I emailed him back and said that I know someone who built a complete clone for 15kUS including the price of the car. Needless to say there were no more e-mails....

Then why don't you buy one for $15k? ???

I call :icon_bs: You can't get all the aero pieces and have the body work and paint done for 15k. At least not done right. If you can build one for 15k then that's what I'd do, not insult some guy on ebay because you think he should've built the car for 15K.
I have got to see this 15k clone. I'll have 20k in mine and that's with only 6k invested in a real nice complete running and driving 69 R/T SE car to begin with. I don't even have to restore the car, just convert it. Oh, and that's doing all of the work myself at my body shop. No outside labor at all.

Why? Really simple...too many guys trying to retire early on Mopars. Plain and simple.
The car for 15K is not 100% correct, but looks like a Daytona. Running, driving, painted, striped clone. I worked in a body shop and apprenticed as a mechanic. I know what is involved, trust me. I am planning on building a clone myself, but would like to buy one if I could that is close to done. There is NO WAY ON THIS PLANET that it costs 60K clone a Charger without the engine!!! I was born at night, but not last night.
Getting back to the 15K car. To be correct it would have been closer to 30K. I know that. That is what I plan on spending whether I build or buy. I am not insulting this guy in any way shape or form. He can ask whatever he wants and I hope he gets it. Seriously. Just won't be my hard earned money.
I realize the labour costs are important, whether you do it yourself or not. I run 3 businesses. Time = Money. That's not just a saying, it is true. My wife and I are also good with money. Not everyone is, period. Income up, expenses down. That's all there is to it....
I'M ABOUT HALF-WAY ON MY HEMI DAYTONA CLONE AND I AM DOING ALL LABOR EXCEPT ENGINE MACHINING AND I WOULD SAY I WILL HAVE 30K INTO IT . AGAIN I DID THE SANDBASTING , METAL WORK BODY WORK AND ENGINNERRING THE STINGER NOSE ASSEMBLY TO MAKE OPERATIONAL . I WORK ON THIS CAR AT LEAST 70 HRS A WEEK AND THAT STILL ISN'T ENOUGH TIME . IF ANYBODY ON THIS SIGHT HAS NEVER GONE THRU ONE , I DON'T CARE WHAT THEY DO FOR A LIVING , IT IS A VERY LONG A PANFULL UNDERTAKING !. LARRY
Anyone that knows me, knows that my plans change almost on a daily basis. I see something I like about a car and next thing you know I'm trying to incorporate it into my next project. It's an ongoing build in my head. As for the 20k that I will have in my car...that's with the stock 440 and auto that's in the car now. A hemi conversion will add about 15k to that. When both clones, the bird and the daytona, are finished, I should have around 60-65k total in them combined. Can't even buy a restorable superbird for that amount.
WELL SAID !
Appreciate you guys being honest. 30K for a clone seems very reasonable. Of course, they may sell for more, but to build it that sound right.
emailing someone who is selling an item to say that you know where it can be gotten cheaper is really annoying. If you know how to do it cheaper, then go ahead and do it. Why should this guy care about what you think you can do? Why even feel the need to tell someone that?
I happen to agree with you that 60k for an engineless clone is a little steep, but that's that guys business.
seems like scam to me, guy has 0 feedback and cant spell worth of shit

Silver, are you implying that people who can't spell are dishonest? I just want to make sure.
What about people who don't use proper grammer?
Just for the record: I can't spell ,use bad grammer, and live in the South. :icon_smile_approve: Wanna buy my car ?

I'll take that garage too and maybe the hoses are there because hes cleaning the roof? ???
I think $40k is fair, $45 if it's as nice as it looks. A rotisserie Charger with Hemi and aero parts? Hell, I'd trade all three of my cars for that one. I'll kick in the marked unit for an extra $100! :)
