Title: Eat My Dust - With Ron Howard 1976
Post by: Drache on May 27, 2023, 06:43:33 AM
Just a little FYI the main character car is a Camaro but there is a gold '68 Charger that shows up and is sadly destroyed.

You can watch the full movie here:

It is weird how back then, a six year old car was in such bad shape. Nowadays, a 2017 car still looks pretty good.

not seen that film for years , i remember as kid watching that on video tape  must of been 1980 &  was trying to pause/ freeze frame exactally at the right spot to see the charger anyone who remembers video recorders when they first came out late 70s early 80s  will remember how difficult pausing at the right spot was  :brickwall:  :scratchchin:  never saw the gray primer one in there.

yes thats true thought the same  :yesnod:  even when you see old barn find muscle cars , yes  dirty & deteriorated when found but alot of the time  they were parked in early 70s & were beaten up  even then , recent one comes to mind was the coffee walk 69 R/T SE  in Y3  last year , that was slaughtered considering it was only a few years old & was parked in early 70s from memory :scratchchin:

It's true that many cars aged quicker back then.  Crappy paint/finishes, sloppy build quality, etc.

As for this '68 movie Charger, well, it's a minor stunt car in a Roger Corman flick.  Lowest-of-the-low-budgets. 'Dukes' was buying used Chargers 3-8 years later and many of them looked much better.

I think the build quality and paint jobs for new vehicles back then was nowhere near as good as today's cars.
I was watching Bullitt the other day and the Mustang looked dull in several spots. The Charger was a repainted medium blue metallic so it actually seemed to look okay.
