Title: Get the dust off
Post by: comet_666 on July 11, 2014, 02:09:22 PM
Thoughts on a good dust brush remover thingy?
I bought a California dust brush or whatever its called and someone told me to spray it with detail spray before first use, well when I went to brush off dust all the red lint came off the brush onto the car. I assume that applying the detailer is what caused this but not sure.

Water and a towel are better.  :Twocents:

Yah problem is it is garage bound so I pull it out to work on it and it gets dusty / pollen and I hate to wash it then put it back in garage again.

If it's inside, put a car cover over it. :Twocents:

It is inside with a cover, however I push it out all the time to work on it and marvel at it's awesomeness  ;)

I always  blow the car off with compressed air & wipe at the same time with a soft cloth  all over ,  wipe the vinyl top with a tac rag   :P  then with a bucket of clean water & a leather wipe the whole car down , starting with the vinyl  , ive never washed the charger since I've owned it  :P although the charger has never been out in the rain in 25 years

I've bought one of them California dusters too had a number of recommendations on here ,  can't find it but thread was about how we take all the trouble to keep them out of the rain then drown them each Saturday morning .  then someone said they aren't that great   :scratchchin:    anyone using one ? how are you using it without putting wax all over car ?

I use a California Duster but I've found they work a lot better once they get a little crappy looking.  You can't let them get too crappy or you need to clean them but there is a big period there where you look at it and its all dirty and you think "ugh" but its actually when they work the best in my experience.

Take 2.
I think I bought a pacific coast duster before because I bought/returned to Autozone. Now I picked a real one up at K-Mart of all places and did a test. I just used it right out of the package and it worked ok, I think my issue was putting detailer on it first along with the fact it was not a California duster. however it removes pollen but still leaves red dust here and there.

I use the California duster and it works great. I had a generic one once and it was a piece of junk.

I think part of the issue is it has not been waxed yet, so its fresh paint. Worked perfect on my 07 Charger
