Hey gang..
wasn't there a thread on the differences between the '69 and '70 k-members?
I thought I remembered seeing a thread about it as well. Not sure where it is...
Most noticeable is that the sway bar will run in front/under the K-frame on a 68/69, and will run through the K-frame on a '70.

Yup... sway bar and mounting bracketry. The lower control arms have different sway bar mounts also. Do not mix because they will not match.
yep - the 70's sway bars run inside the K member while the 68-69 run under the K member.
And the 69's only had skid plates on the Hemi.
I know you could drill the holes on the k-member on a '69 to facilitate the positioning of the sway bar attach bracket of the '70, but will the '70 sway bar fit through the middle of the '69 k-member?

No, '70 bar won't fit through the middle of a '68/'69 K. There's no opening in it for the sway bar to pass through.
The '70-style sway bar attach brackets fit on a '69-K through the use of adapter brackets, they won't bolt directly on & line up. You drill holes for the adapter brackets, then bolt the sway bar brackets up to them.

Really? '69 440 K's didn't have skid plates, either? How about '68 440 K's??
I thought that the 318 or 383 K's did not have the skid plates, but the R/T cars did. :shruggy:

Nope----Hemi only for '69
Not 100% sure on 68's but the 69's didn't have them so I doubt the 68's did.
The 440's didn't have the bigger oil pan until 70.
Right! :2thumbs:

This is a later 69 K-Frame
Troy - Negative - there is no way a 70 sway bar will fit on a 69 or earlier K member... I have a spare 69 and a spare 70 K member out in the shed.... If you need any specific pics or anything drop me a line.

Gotcha... I told my friend it probably wouldn't work. I noticed the indention on the k-member for the bar clearance...
Thanks...
Hey
does anyone know if a "later 69 Big Block "K"member will fit a 66 Charger ? and if so will a 68 hotchkis sway bar work with that setup ?
