I know the guy.  It isn't a "Barn Find" like it has been sitting.  It is the guys collection.  I think the Daytona was out just last year running and driving.

This was just by luck.  I just happened to be going out to NC for Power Tour and the owner is a friend of my friend out there.

Lets just say there is ALOT of Mopars in NC.

Ryan,

Seems like everyone has a car-theme show on TV. Your's would be actually be worth watching! Seems like you should make a pitch. I'm sure you'd have a thousand volunteers to show off their junk collections.

I appreciate that.  And I did pitch a TV show a little over a year ago about "Auto Archaeology".  But all the networks wanted was the "catch".  They wanted the find/buy/flip/drama kinda show.

They didn't want one where I just drove around and documented amazing cars/trucks/planes/trains/etc.... sitting in barns, etc and then did nothing with them.  But there is stuff in the pipeline that will hopefully work out.

Thanks for the support.  Here's my short youtube video of the barn find on cover of this month's Muscle Car Review.

Did you notice what color the block was?.....

And just a heads up.  If you don't want to see the pictures "adventure by adventure".  I also dump them all into this section, which I do by year.

Ha, there are no current plans to do that.  But maybe someday.  You guys love your letter cars!

My friend sold this to Sweden.  300K

How much weight are you really going to save with that? I know; it all adds up, but seriously!

Thats what separates the winners, the willingness to do whatever it takes and always go a little further than the other guy.  Its what Mark Donahue was really talking about when he said an unfair advantage.

Petty would do what ever he needed to win.  Even drill holes in the block... sometimes it worked... sometimes like with this engine, not so much.

Is the guy on "Hemi Ln" selling any of the cars/parts he has?  There is definitely some pieces there I could use for my car.

yeah I thought  that , IMO its crazy  , if you look the side of the block, its been ground on too  :eek2:  would rather just go in the gym an loose a couple of pounds in weight  , rather than do that imo  !  it must  compromise the strength , slightly   :shruggy:  maybe  :P

As of right now the cars and parts aren't for sale.  I wish I could save a part or two myself!

And yeah, I forgot, but the guy told me for every pound saved you get X times faster.  So they did everything to lighten it.

Heard a story once about Dick Landy in the pits somewhere at one time and there was a kid with them.  Between rounds Landy gave a file to the kid and told him to go file a couple pounds off the car.

:'(  Ugh.  That's what I figured.  It's too bad, as he could help out a lot of Mopar guys, and make some decent money in the process.
