The Right Look

I'm thinking of going back to a uniform tire size at all four corners on my 2nd Gen Charger.  I'm currently running P235R15's in front and P275R15's in the rear.  Does anyone have pics of a 2nd Gen with P245's or P235's all the way around so I can see how this looks?  Thanks!  :popcrn:

:iagree: looks great!

I was running 255/60/15's on 15x7's for a while...
I think the 255 is a great size on a 7 or 8 inch rim.

Those 255's do look good.  How do they feel up front?  Just69...what brand tires are those?  The redlines look great.  :2thumbs:

Any others?

Thanks! I got the tires @ DiamondBack Classics www.widewhitewalltires.com   They can make any tire & size into a redline.

the wider size up front does compound the effect of "getting stuck" in the ruts of a road...nothing too bad though.

I have since swapped my tire/wheel combo to 245/60/15 in front & 295/50/15 in the rear & feel no difference in the front using the 245's

See the story here...

pleased with the mods i have done to the suspension  , drives down the road really good  :yesnod:  , still might change a few things , but tire size won't be one of them

Just 6T9....sorry to bother you on this, but you have the exact wheel/tire combo that I want for my 70 Charger.  I see you have the Chrysler road wheels with the trim ring which is why it looks so much different than the steel Magnum 500's.  I checked out Diamondback tires, but did not see a tire that matched your tread pattern.  Can you tell me what exact tire that is for reference?  Thanks a bunch.

I got those tires back in 2002.  Right now the actual brand name escapes me but they were a brand MFG'd by BF Goodrich at the time (much like Cooper MFG's Mickey Thompson tires)....they were an "off brand" name...
They are a raised white letter tire that still has the RWL's on the inside of the tire but Diamond back paints them black....at first I thought this was kind of goofy but they have held up well & you cannot see the RWL's on the inside at all after all these years.

If you really need to know the exact tire name let me know & ill check for you no problem!

OK...looks like the BFG tread pattern has changed since you bought them.  The current BFG tire is my first choice at the moment, but I like your tread pattern better!  Appreciate the help and the great pictures...beautiful car!  :drool5:

There is more tire/wheel information on this thread too.  Check it out.  I started it for everyone to post info and pics on wheels and tires sizes.  I would really appreciate any of you that have posted pics on this thread to do the same on the link below, and include your information.  It would be a great tool to have as much information and as many looks as possible.  Thanks!   :2thumbs:

Thats the thing....they are NOT BFG Radial T/A tires....they are an off-brand mfg'd by BFG

The actual name of the tires are Defender Sport SR.

oh and thanks!

Understand.  The Diamondback webpage identifies the manufacturer and, if applicable, the multiple brand names the tires could come under.  I think the ones I'm interested in the tires that have BFG and Cooper heritage.  Thanks...now to decide if Santa can bring a set for Xmas  :yesnod:

YES.... Santa is coming to town  :yesnod: Ordering a set of Chrysler 15"x7" road wheels, chrome trim rings and center caps from Specialty Wheel.  The rubber will be four Cooper P255/60R15 redlines from Diamond Back tires.  The original wheels on my Charger 500 were 14"x5.5" road wheels so these new wheels should be a nice upgrade from the original with a much fuller look.  Hopefully it will look as nice as Just 6T9 CHGR set when all is said and done.  Can't wait to get rid of the Crager SS wheels on it now and get back to a more standard Chrysler look  :boogie:

VERY cool man!   One other option I did a couple of seasons ago, was the addition of the brushed trim ring instead of the chrome ring.

As you remember the factory 14x4.5 Road Wheels had brushed spokes as well as brushed rings.  Since Specialty didnt offer the brushed spokes at the time on their 15x7's when I bought them (I believe they can brush the chrome spokes for you for another hundred bucks or so) I got the chrome rings as well at that time.

Check out the difference in this thread.....

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,58908.0.html

In the poll the brushed ring won over the chrome ring by 1 vote!

I think both look great and it's hard to go wrong either way.  I went with the chrome  :yesnod: Guess if the poll was still open on the other post, it would be tied again   Thanks for all the help and pics 6T9  :2thumbs:

Will do  :2thumbs:  Really looking forward to getting a new look for the car.  The Crager SS are great looking wheels, but after 6 years that's now out of my system.  :yesnod: Hopefully I'll get my new "shoes" on in 2 or 3 weeks.    thx again!

Well I got 2 of the 4 tires today in the mail (255/60/R15).  The brand turned out to be Grand Prix Performance GT that is made by Cooper.  For the particular tire I bought (DiamondBack LS5 redline), they indicated it would be one of several brand tires based on the size ordered and availability.  Regardless, DiamondBack claims they are all the same tire made by Cooper.  Setting them next to the 235/60R15's on the front of my Charger now they are wider, but not as wide as I thought they'd be.  No problems with me on that.  The 255's are noticably narrower than the 275's in back.  I think these are going to work out well  :2thumbs:  Hope the other two are here tomorrow and if I'm lucky the wheels will arrive by the end of the week.  Here's a couple tire pics...sorry for the poor quality, the camera did not like the artifical lights!
