Title: Master cylinder
Post by: 69skcharger on April 12, 2018, 11:10:04 PM
I'm converting to front disks from an a-body. I want to stick with a manual system. I want to confirm that a 15/16 note master is best. If so, the only factory master I can find in that size is from an a-body with power brakes. Will this power brake master work in a manual system, or should I just buy the 15/16 Master from Dr diff or right stuff?

I bought my New Raybestos Master Cylinder MC36406 (15/16) from RockAuto.

Okay, and that works with the manual brake push rod? It has the recess for the rubber bushing?

I'm not sure about the push rod. I'm using an adjustable one for the last 18 yrs. It does have the recess for the rubber bushing. It does not have the 2 bolt holes for the rubber boot though.

I use a Right Stuff DBMC15 master 15/16" bore.  I have an E body with manual front disc rear drums. The master cyl works great.

What diameter calipers? With the large piston floating calipers you might have a low pedal with the 15/16" MC. A 1 1/32" MC will give a higher pedal.

I was using a 1 1/32" MC for years and the pedal was higher up but it was a hard pedal.
