Looked at one today, guy down the street.
'66 Hemi 4spd survivor (orig paint/interior/drivetrain) dk green w/ black interior. Engine is rebuilt .030 over. Family is 2nd owner, bought from 1st owner about 25 years ago.
What kind of $$ would something like this bring in the current market? Might be for sale this summer.

Yeah, the pic thing for me is kinda sensitive, hate to be pushy with a nice guy...
Straight body, paint scratches, didn't see any rust... Interior Good
the problem is this economy right now....selling a high dollar car is in the dumps....nobody has that kind of money to spare

Saw it too. The paint has some deep scratches and is pretty thin (see primer) in several spots , but the car is super solid, rust free and appears quite original. Even with the thin paint and scratches I'd leave it just as is. I think it had 100k+ miles and the Hemi had been out and back in three times?
I'd put it at the lower end of the spectrum $45-50k, but I'm no expert for sure.

In todays market for a unrestored 66 first gen hemi I would say between $30-45K
Does it have PS and PB? Electric windows?
Accessories will definately have a affect on value.

I'd agree. Considering the restored 70 Hemi Charger on ebay recently couldn't even get 70k. :brickwall:
As with so many of these, it may be worth less than what the owner would let it go for.
There was a red 66 hemi 4 speed Charger in LA for spring fling that was for sale for 75k and it was trailered home.
Some day someone may pay the sellers price but can the seller wait that long.
Dare I say it..... you can buy a 66 Hemi 4-speed Charger (1 of 250+/-) for the same price as a 69-70 R/T 440 car in simillar condition?

yes you can, and the 2nd gen will hold its value better too, and yes i own a 1st gen, its just the way its,
in the last 3-5 years i've seen many an unrestored hemi 1st gen sell for 28-45K
Sounds very similar to the one I parted with back in 2009, other than it being a 4-speed. Mine was a very good original car, but needed resto on almost everything- just wasn't quite good enough to be considered a 'survivor' and had been repainted anyway in the 80's. I doubt that in today's market he'll get more than 40K, and I'm speaking from experience. The first gen Hemi Chargers seem to be the red-headed step children of the Hemi car world, and just don't fetch the same kind of money as the 2nd, and to a lesser extent, the 3rd gen versions do.
Yep. These are the cheapest rides to get into the HEMIsphere with. 46 years later they're still a Love it or Hate it car. Most folks won't get what they have in them when sold.

I know the Hemi Charger that TK was talking about....the owner came over to my house today...he said I could come over anytime and look at car and take pics....I remember the car from the mid-80's.....I had a chance to buy it back then.....could not afford it....and really can't afford it now
Owner bought a relay from me and I checked out his instrument cluster for gauge operation and lighting issues

Personally I would put the price right around the 50K mark. 1st gen cars are tough to gauge though.
There is a '66 Hemi Charger for sale in Anoka (north of Minneapolis) for $20,000. I haven't seen it, and I can't answer any questions about it. But if you're looking for a relatively low cost entry into the the hemi club - and we are awesome, btw - this may be a good option.

Now, that car looks really nice. The floors/body appear very solid. Looks like a good candidate for a resto. Unfortunately, at that price, even if you do most of the work yourself you will still likely have $45-$50K into it. And there's a LOT of work there...

Looks pretty solid but the fresh primer would make me way nervous. A person can hide a lot of sins with some primer. I would hope that there are more parts that go with the car. Says nothing about trans or all the linkage or even the 4 spd console, those just grow on trees you know. ha ha ha Yep lots of work there.
I pick Vainglory's Charger, plus its closer to home.
Is that Anoka 66 hemi car still for sale? When I went to find the ad again, it was gone. It looks like some potential if the price were a just little sweeter or if all the original components/pieces are there. That's gotta be within 15 minutes of my house.
