OK, I'm in a weird thread starting mood tonight. Sorry.
What if you could have ordered a FC7 Superbird? Minus the white decals on the nose, this thing looks pretty nice.
How about a hardtop Superbird? (see pic 2). Not bad at all.
Are these cars still on the circuit? Do the Guru's know if they are real Birds?
i dig them both, but i dig birds there my fav. :musik010:

I think he means no vinyl top, all super birds had vinyl, the second pic shows one with out, probably a clone

What if?? I would be still jumping up and down if I could of ordered one!! (http://bestsmileys.com/bouncing/6.gif)
Birds destined for NASCAR duty did not have the vinyl top added... ;)
Well I can't comment as to the legitimacy of either of those cars but I can say that I really like them both. Especially the non-vinyl top one.
anyone know what color that sweet thing is?... :eyes:

I'm definitely leaving the vinyl top off of the clone that I'm building. Of course I'm leaving the back glass stock as well due to the amount of $ and work involved.
Has anyone seen a coupe converted into a superbird clone? Never really thought about it before.
You know, for some reason, way back in the foggiest recesses of my brain, I feel like I did see a pic once of a dirt track coupe converted into a 'bird.
Could be wishful thinking though.
I believe that technically you could order a FC7 Superbird, you would have to follow the same ordering procedures that they did when the 2 people ordered the FK5 Superbirds. It wasn't supposed to be offered as a color but 2 people found out how to.
FK5? What color is that? any example photos would be cool!! :shruggy:

FK5 = Deep Burnt Orange Metallic
I know Steve N. who owns the only 4-speed 'Bird that came painted FK5. There are actually 3 cars from what Steve has told me. There was also a writeup of one of the FK5 auto cars here a while back in a magazine. I'll root through the stuff here, but I don't know if I can lay my hands on it real quick.
Better still, a convertible bird. If I could find a nice Satelite conv., I would clone a Bird. I have seen a pic of a limelight green convertible once, and it was a beauty.
This could have been one of the great colors on the Bird if it were mass produced. On the other hand, maybe it's so appealing because it's so rare? Like most K5 cars, seeing it in person is much better.
Yep, that's the article I was thinking of - thanks for posting those pics, Chris!
Here is another one of the root beer bird.Car is or was in the Petty museum.

That's the Garlits museum in Florida,...........the car on the driver's side of the bird is a 69 Hemi Charger 500
Can you show me what an FM3 and white Daytona would look like? It'd be cool to have it match my Challenger and Duster, just want to make sure that's not too much Panther Pink.
This is the closest that I can come. I've never seen a pink Daytona, but sounds kind of cool.
Does anyone know which HEMI 500 that is in the Garlits Museum?
Didn't Dodge give him that car back in 69? In any case, Don is a true car guy and I'd bet that if you contact the museum and explain your interest in the car, they'd give you the info on it.

I should have asked him about it this weekend. I just saw him out there at Vegas.
