i was wondering if theres a way of useing a 440 with a broken motor mount ear i think its the one bottom ,i think the only way would be to use a mount plate on the front .need info please.
if its the bottom mounting boss, than you can either motor plate it, or weld back on the broken piece and put on a torque bar or torque chain and hope for the best. OR you can find another 440 :'(
My 440 has the drivers side lower ear broken off.....still has half the hole though. Got a botl & nut on it tight.
Also invested in a Schumacher torque strap just in case......2 years with no trouble so far
You can see it in this pic
is the torque strp that thin haning down that allmost looks like a tie rod .how do those work ,and where do they bolt ,do you think it would work if one is completly missing.

Here's the site check it out for your self: http://www.engine-swaps.com/frames/frame_Torquestrap.html
do you think it would work to run one side of the motor with the two bolts on the top and a torque strap attached .and do they make one for a 73
My 440 had one broken off. My engine builder just built area back up and machined a new ear. Looked like it was never broken. Has held up good so far.
Schumacher... yuck... never again
I sent a set of Schumacher mounts back, did not do at all what I was looking for, in a now street car.
But he took them back without issue.
