Fuse box upgrade

The EZ wiring thread got me thinking, has anyone replaced the fuse box only with a modern blade type system?  Anything out there that will pretty much bolt in so I can keep the glove box?  My wiring's fine, no need to touch those.

Painless has their line of blade fuse blocks.  I doubt that it is direct bolt in.  They might have something close though. :popcrn:

The shop that did the install on my wiring harness offered to put the blade-type fuse box in the glove compartment for originality's sake, but I said that I wanted it under the dash like modern cars.  So, it is possible to keep the glove box location for the fuses, AFAIK.  There will be extra lengths of wiring involved though, as these systems are designed to run as short a wire as possible to the components...

Been so long, I actually don't remember. I wanna say local swap meet, or MCM electronics. I can do some digging here in my books and find out for sure....hell, eBay might even have them if you word a search right

The only modification I had to make was install a "key on" power circuit to some of the fuses...and isolate one for dash lights in my 66.....I think the fuse block cost maybe $10 or so.....

Those are real nice as well although I don't think I would want to spends over $100 if I don't need all that.  I'm going to take some measurements of the old box and see what fits. 

I'll do a write up when I do the swap for future reference.
