Title: 440 steel crank question
Post by: DoubleDlover on January 22, 2024, 05:37:49 AM
So a little sparrow flew into my house last night and told me that a 1970 std. 440 steel crank and a 1970 440 HP crank is different. even has a different part number.. Does anyone know anything about that? True? Or kinda not really? I know the balancers are different and the rods. But how about the crank? If so.. What is different? thanks r

I vote they are the same.

The 440-4 standard performance and the 440-4 HP are the same and have the same part number dating back a few years, the 440-6 was new for '70 and has a different part number. Some sources claim that the 440-6 crank went through a hardening process that the others didn't.

Birds can't make it into my house because I have doors and windows...and the dogs sort of act as a deterrent too.
