Does anyone know the correct specs and colors for a 1969 318 for a charger?-MATT(i wanna build a grandmas car but a little beefed up but the motor i want it to be dead stock looking) ;D

I assume you mean engine specs like cam, compression, etc.? They are 2 bbl's so if you truly want it stock the performance potential is pretty limited. As for the internals, if you are building it up none of that really matters anyway.

The color is red for a '69 318. Here is a pic of an untouched original 318 in my parts car.

Funny thing, my buddy has an early build Satellite and it's red while my late build Charger is blue.  Yes, both 1969's, both are 318's and both are bone stock.

That is interesting. I wonder if it is a build date, or assembly plant, or maybe the Satellites are just different than Charger's. My Satellite is a October 31st built car.

Here is a link that gives the common colors for Mopar engine's.

does anyone have a pic of a rebuilt 318 but all stock lookin like 4spds pic. where can you buy 318 parts like air cleaner and valve covers?-MATT

Smoke20

I've got the original 318 built in 10/68  in my 69 charger, build date 02/69.

I did swap out the 2bbl manifold for a 340 4bbl and an Eddy 600 carb, but you can still see the red by the water pump, and where the previous owner butchered out the A/C.  :flame:

Not to hijack the thread, but what was the impact of the 4-bbl swap?

I'm considering the same for my '69, for which I do have the parts but don't have the $$$ for a 440 swap.

Thanks

a 340 but looks the same  ---    im not sure where you can buy factory air cleaner and valve covers for a 318 --  not a really highly requested part list...      I do have both the air cleaner and valve covers off my old 318 though (along with the rest of the engine)

My '69 Charger is a 11/68 build and the 318 was blue (has been sprayed over black, but can see blue in the chips). As for stock air cleaners, I have a couple if you are interested.
