Let's see here...the last pics I remember seeing of your car was when you had it on the lift, I think you were doing the interior. It turned out absolutely FANTASTIC!! :2thumbs:

Congratulations on a job well done!

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

God, that car Blows, well big chunks of rubber of the red lines that is. Are they radials that look like red line's I hope. I drove XP29J 68 Hemi 4-speed Charger with the orginal red line's I thought I was going to die. May be due to age, but was all over made me want to chevy my pants. Hard to believe he drove 225 mile's on them to my house. Man got ball's of steel.

One thing I saw that was driffent than mine, not counting the Blower was the bracket that held the heater hoses on the passanger side. Mine loop's around the hose's where your seemed to cup them much like a 68 did, but came off the Alt? Also, did all BB Charger's have them?

When I did my bay the first time, saw one in year one catalog and bought it. But my bay did not have a hole for it?

I still have the deluxe Hub Cap's my 68 Road Runner came with, in fact two pairs. Any idea what they might be worth? If worth something I like to get rid of them.

Cool Pics!!!!!!! Makes me more anxious to get my finished!!

Thanks for the compliments guys. It is hard to keep from smiling driving around town in it. :)  I can't imagine what is was like when these were everyday cars. Probably makes us appreciate them more now anyway.

To answer some of the questions.

sandman21 - I restored it according to the build sheet and fender tag for the most part. The pistol grip, electric choke Eddy 800AVS carb, electronic ignition, and completely painted underside are the biggest changes. I learned this weekend that I more than likely had W11 hubcaps from the factory according to Andy from Andy440.com. I have a set but, like the looks of the optional W15's and they are in much better shape.

CudaKen - I had the hole for the heater hose strap and I think that is how it goes. There is one mounted to the alternator also. In '68 there was a mount on the passenger side valve cover and a strap that held the hoses in place. Can't tell you why there was no hole on yours...is it an early car?

The redlines are the polyglass reproductions by Firestone. They are not that bad...but I would not take them on a road course.    ;)

70 Battle Horse - Beautiful Bee!  :drool5:  I hope I can get some shots like yours someday. I was battling the sun and a obsolete camera to get these shots. If you are asking if yours is R6 it sure looks like it...mine is   too. I see it has a red interior too, not very common at all.

Thanks to everyone that helped along the way with my questions...hope to see some of you at the shows.

Well done, I plan to use several of your pics to help guide my restoration.

I have a 9 week baby at home, a beautiful loving wife, and a thriving practice, all jockeying for my time.   I love the family to death, yet that car is always calling me out tot he workshop, 24/7.   How hard it is to juggle a passion of this magnitude with maintaining a satisfying family life.   What was your secret???

Beautiful Car....Both of them!

WARNING
Drift happens with those poly tires.
I would get another set for those urges to go driving. Seriously!

Everyone sure seems to be scared of polyglass tires. Heck it is all I drove on back in high school with the '68...except those were 60 series...now those can be scary on poor roads. The redlines don't seem to have that much of a problem. I have heard the reproductions are made of better compounds than the originals. :shruggy:   My dad's GTX has had the exact same tire on it for over 10 years and I can't think of a better driving older car than his. We do limit our driving of these show cars anyway...I did have a nice 30 mile cruise this afternoon in the Charger though. The poly bushings are much more annoying than the poly tires IMO.

Well to be honest I don't have kids yet, that would be difficult from a time and money standpoint in addition to running a business. It can be hard scheduling time for working on a car, especially when you think some little thing will take an hour to do and it ends up an all day affair.  :(

I would usually go nuts and work like mad on the car for a few weeks...then get the hints that I needed to spend a little more time with my wife. I had a double edged sword while working on the car. Our shop is set up great for doing the work but, it is over 20 miles away from my house one way.  It forced me to devote entire weekends or very long nights to get anything accomplished with the travel time.

Overall my wife has been very understanding and has even helped with the car at times. I have had the Charger to 2 shows so far and she has went to both. I am not ready to jump into another resto like this real soon...I plan to fix up the '68 a little better to drive and enjoy at cruise nights, etc.  The '69 is mainly going to be a show car until I get bored with that scene.

Good luck with your resto.

Lets test my memory... :scratchchin:  you posted about two years ago that your car was built July 11th, 1969 right? Some things stick in my head and I just can't forget them.  :)

Names, anniversaries, and birthdays I can't remember at all...but, Charger build dates are easy. :image_294343:

Thanks Strat...I figure the '70 pistol grip will give people something to rib me about when they get over laughing at the hubcaps.   ;)

Speaking of ugly hubcaps...what do you guys think of this "pure" stock buildsheet look with the W11 caps?

well personally, not enuff tire in the wheel wells.. i like fatter and lower it an inch... the hubcapps are ok but to me they would get boring quick..

694spdRT

I should have worded that last question better. What do you guys think of the last two pics of W11 hubcaps vs the W15 hubcaps in the earlier pictures. I am going for the stock look so fatter tires and nice rims are out for now.

The car originally came with the W11 caps, but I like the W15's better. BTW: Check out this rear shot....I can't believe they sold them like this.

Wow! that looks fantastic :o   you did a beautiful job and managed to stay married.   Anyone was is married will under stand not only the time you must (want to) spend with loved ones but the distracting home improvement / renovation projects     :yesnod:
Nice to see another hubcap R/T like mine

Are you going to use W15 hubcaps also? I know yours is black, red stripe, with the red interior from your interior post. I absolutely love that color combo. :2thumbs:
Let me know if you have any questions on the red interior.

For now my plan is to keep the W15 caps on my R/T.   I am toying with idea of getting some big 17" rims and some low profile rubber, but.... I know how some of the classic guys are really against the wagon wheel look.   We'll see.   For now, a wheel upgrade is a low priority.

Thanx for the offer on the interior assistance.   I will definitely be knocking on your cyber door in the near future.

I have some old school 14" Keystone Mags(the real magnesium ones) that my dad bought new in 1974 for my '68. I had though about putting them on it for driving around in between shows.

Either that or I have 15" Cragars, 15" Keystone classics, or some aluminum slots with fat Indy Profile Mickeys on them.

That car simply needs more tire..  looks like it's up on it's tippy toes... as Re: the hubcapps,.. M 15s are far classier better then the M-11s, but id do the MTs and slots or better yet the keystones, though they be ever so heavy...
well,. you asked.  :icon_smile_wink:

I really like the Nascar look.  All black steel rims, chrome 1 1/2" lug nuts and fat medium profile rubber with raised white lettering. I ran this on my red 74 - 4spd rallye and it looked awesome  :yesnod:

The trick with your car is that any wheel will look good...It's a Charger!  I do agree with stratocharger though, more tire wouldn't hurt.

We need someone gifted in the use of Photoshop, or some other image editing software, so we can try out different wheel styles without the work and cost.

Your car looks great.   I like the redline tires/hubcaps.  Its different and stands out from the crowd.  It also shows you what these cars liked like when they were new before someone ripped off the factory tires for an aftermarket set.  Love that pistol grip.   :yesnod: I have one in parts collection and I have always thought of throwing one in my car instead of the original 4 speed shifter.  Awesome job on your restoration.
