Must be warm where you live, as I don't see a lot of room for insulation between the corners of the ceiling and the roof in those rafters!!

Congrats, that looks like a good size house.

You should think about making one small change though, add a garage door & a ramp while you still can. One can never have enough indoor parking,   :D

Yep, do this, my friend is cutting a hole in the side of his basement wall for the same thing.  his house is on a slope and the "winter storage" will be in his basement.

oh and pizza hut called.  they want their rafters back.

According to the rules of marriage, you get a shop equal to twice the size of your house. That's why I have a 6000 sq ft shop with a three bedroom detached house.
Looking good. Be sure and post more pics of the house later.

Or maybe he couldn't ship the truss in one piece (oversize restrictions) and will add the top section later?
I had to do that on one job.

pettybird

from ANY other angle, the house would look fine.  you can see the roof on the left is 90 degrees off from the rest...  it's just where he took the pic from...

sunroofsuperbird

Yes Pizza Hut roof option  :hah: That the first thing my kids said the day they got home and seen the rafters on. of course we had to eat Pizza Hut that night  :smilielol: Yes there is a top point that goes on they were to big to ship 1 peice. Yes there will be a Garage door in Basement wall block cut out after final inspection. Now if you have garage door put in you have to spend all kinds of money and extra permits to get house fire proofed. so we built in a fake 9' door way we can tear out later easy. As for insulation ? it dont get real cold here but there is room for 6" of insulation I would think thats enough? they know what they are doing I hope?  Roof will be on next week will put more pics on then.

Not really fireproofing but more a fire rating in minutes (30min 60min etc) I am not familiar with the building codes in your area but in some areas all that is required between garage and living area is a taped layer of 5/8" fire rated sheetrock which is only a minor cost increment (since you will probably cover the walls & clg anyway). Looking good so far, best of luck in your project.

Heres some new pics if you want to see. its getting close now. hope to be in it by first of jan.
