Anyone happen to catch CMT Cribs tonight.  Actually, it's on right now.  The are at Petty's Garage.  The white Superbird that he has, he said he traded a race car for it.  He kinda acted like he got the bad end of the deal.  Does anyone know what car he traded for the 'Bird?  He said he has had the car for about 15 years now.  Secondly, he showed the other 'Bird that is in the museum that is painted blue and decaled up.  He said that he had three 'Bird and that this car was the third.  He never said the car was raced, but he never said that it wasn't raced either.  Isn't this car nothing more than a clone?  Cool show, I also look forward to getting the DVD "Petty Blue".  I bet it would be pretty good.

The trophy room #43 Superbird was built up in the mid 1970's - from exactly what car, I do not know.     There are several possibilities.   It has some construction features consistent with the mid 70's, not 1970.     Over the years, the origins of the car have never really been made clear.

I'm sorry I missed that one, it sounds like it was a good one.

Romberg never owned a Superbird.

Richard has done deals with friends back and forth for different cars over the years.   He got a backhoe or bulldozer for the Superbird they built for Hugh Hawthorne.   Steve Hmiel who at the time was a shop worker says they had to rebuild the backhoe.
