Reverse Light Column Shift

The reverse light on my -68 column shift Charger has never worked since I bought the car. So, after reading some threads on this forum I found the switch to be stuck and the pin in the shifter tube is gone, probably broken off years ago.

I have brought the switch back to life and it is now ok, as is the wiring and lamps. So I probably will twist my arm and pay up for a NOS pin. It's the only thing missing to get the reverse light to work. But, how impossible is it to get this pin in place without removing the complete steering column? :scratchchin: I tried to figure it out while unbolting the switch but...

Any clues or ideas? Should I wait until the winter?  :icon_smile_big:
