Is there anything close to a replacement for the stock mid-70s/80s single-piston iron brake caliper, to get a lighter weight aluminum one?  (Not a huge Viper or Corvette caliper with 4-8 pistons and only fits a 13+ inch rotor, etc)

Direct replacement, no. SSBC may have an alternate. Wilwood, definetly. I think Dr Diff offers mustang based units that are alloy. All would require new brackets and pads. ARE does offer brackets to put the Vipers calipers on 11.75 rotors.

I forget the exact amounts, but I think the loaded Viper caliper is 3-4# lighter than the iron single pot and the Wilwood is 5-6# lighter.
