My unrestored 'Bird does not have a hood insulation pad-I have read the thread on Daytona's but don't see anything on the 70 Superbirds. So the question is should there be one here? There was an apparent engine bay fire before I got it so I don't know.
Thanks

My car had a pad but really poor application of undercoating, almost like it was a heavy dose of just the wheelwell treatments. :shruggy: I m not sure if the pad is going back on? I have one on my R/T and Im less than thrilled with how its aging.
wingless now, but still around.

i wanted to put one on my clone. and was told they did not come with one. and they did not come with a red tag on the top of the battery.

I have a Yellow Superbird and it has the option that includes hood insulation and undercoating. I understand that you get both, they are not separately optioned.  Biggest problem is that the air cleaner likes to rub on the hood insulation. So you need to decide if it is worthwhile to install it. Also where I live I have had mice  like to live in the padding. I just keep a new one around for that someday install.

Sound deadener in the wheels wells was standard procedure.

Full undercoating was an extra cost option.

Thanks-it sounds like since mine was undercoated that it should have the pad, but based on what everyone is saying I think I will pass!

Barry,
I understand the undercoating was extra cost but what I was saying...they did a really crappy job of applying it. :icon_smile_big:

Big Bird

My Bird has the J55 code on build sheet & dealer invoice. It also has the hood insulation pad. The cost was $16.60.  Actually the undercoating job was done very well & has held up remakablly. Not a bad price back then, i don't think you can buy a aerosol can of undercoating for touch-up today for that price !.
BIG - BIRD :)
