there was also another Daytona in Junction City Oregon that had been wrecked, it was originally yellow and had ben painted red at some time, it had been hit hard in the drivers front, hard enough to pop the widshield out on the drivers corner, 440 auto car, the car was for sale, but I had figured it was to badly damaged and would be too expensive to fix this was in 1988 1989 right in there, also  this car was in Salem oregon, it sat next to the owners house as it was parted out, it had built 440 in it and was originaly hemi orange put had been painted fc7, (cool side pipes) auto matic bucket car. the owner was driving home in town on a city street. the city workers had left a manhole cover off where they had been working, when the superbird hit the hole it threw it into the oncoming trafiic and smash! the city paid him for the car and he parted it, he also had sitting next to this car a motor less alpine white black bench seat 4 speed 6 pack superbird, nice condition and a 71 440+6 4 speed a/g hood roadrunner nice as well. dont know what happened to the daytona or the parted carcass of this bird, although i hate to admit it i torched up a superbird in a wrecking yard in alabama in 1981, light passenger door damage really an easy fix but insurance company totaled the car, it was a 440 4 barrel 4 speed buckets and cruise control i remember, that car was white also.

43 F6 cars were built is the number I have always heard. Yes some survived unwrecked.

Do you think the bird above was repainted that color?  I thought there wasn't any burnt orange made  :shruggy:  Looks like maybe some orange on the door jam

maxwellwedge

Yes - I see the original orange in that area. There were a few burnt orange that were built by accident....I heard 2 or 3 perhap.
