Yeap, anything's restorable, to a point............ I saw that car at Tim's last weekend........ It is a major basket-case..... But, it is a real Daytona

Restorable for sure. I tried for years to buy that car. At least it didn't burn. Anything is possible.  :2thumbs:

The car is pretty much an object of art at this point.    It drew far more attention displayed as is compared to a restored car.    My take is, "let a hoe be a hoe".

Indygenerallee

I agree, yard art... anyone who thinks that thing can be restored and still be called a original Daytona is nuts...
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Aero426

This car spent 70 years at the bottom of a lake.   It isn't going to be restored and is in a museum.

Hell if I had it I would try to bring her back.  It's all about passion in time. If one is will any thing can be done. So sad to see that car like that. I would give my left nut for that car.
i am a fair person and up frount person and try to help if i can. i love my mopars thats. all i ever owned first car was my 69 charger at the age of 15.

Not even a VIN on the dash. I'm sure the fender tag & other body numbers are gone as well, which means there's at least one fake Daytona out there.

No, I think Ted Stephens has retained the tags to make sure it does not happen...

That car took a major impact in the right front... and seeing as how it came from a salvage yard... I'm sure everything that was salvagable, was sold off.  So I also vote to leave it the way it is... for the most part.  I think they should throw an 8 3/4 under it along with the front suspension, and just make the car a roller... and then put it in his museum.

Hi Aero's.

There is more than enuff bodywork left to put her right!
Folks who haven't worked in the motor-trade especially resto don't really understand.
The main bodyshell if more than 60% complete and original will qualify for a rebuild.
All the other parts are generic and can be changed at will.

Yep the survivor cars will command 100% value and the rebuilt cars probably up to 50% less.
But its still an original Daytona, with a documented rebuild.
Most supposed ORIGINAL cars are never fully documented.
Back in the day, anything could of happened to them and probably is less traceable now?

This one not so easy?

So it can be done at a later date?

Wonder if anyone checked if one of those sail panel emblems is the "887" or are they both "886"?

I have a walk around of that car just before Ted pulled it out of the yard.

And right now Ted is going to mount the car on a rolling platform to take to shows.
